promptly at 7:30 PM!
--Kid Cupid of the Championship Committee has been hard at work
recently. Well, as hard as Kid Cupid works. After enjoying a big Cupid
family Thanksgiving dinner, he has been working with the rest of the
Championship Committee to sign some of the first matches for Christmas
Chaos 3!
--The big news going into Christmas Chaos 3 is the return of the
Christmas Chaos Six-Way Scramble Match. Last year, every participant in
the match was a champion and every title was on the line. This year,
things have been changed up a bit. The three singles champions in NWA
East (Heavyweight, Three Rivers, and Brass Knuckles Champions) will be
entered into the match and their titles will be on the line. Also
entered into the match will be three top contenders chosen randomly
throughout the evening. Dash Bennett has refused to defend the Three
Rivers Title earlier in the night, since he was forced to wrestle twice
at Do Or Die 3, so he will be entered into the match automatically.
However, NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst and NWA East Brass
Knuckles Champion Jason Cage will both be defending their titles, so
there could be two title changes by the end of the night!
--At Do or Die 3, Ryan Mitchell snapped. "The Steel City Prodigy" was
facing the NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst. Amherst's
manager, Krystal Frost, jumped on the ring apron as Mitchell was about
to deliver a Steel Curtain DDT to the champion, and while Mitchell's
attention was diverted, Amherst took advantage and pinned Mitchell...
with a handful of tights. After the match, Mitchell attacked the champ,
laying him out with a huge sign shot, shoving several NWA East officials
in the process. Amherst has been petitioning the Championship Committee
to suspend Mitchell, but instead, Cupid has granted Mitchell a rematch
since the end of the match was marred by interference. Amherst is
furious, but will have to defend the title against Ryan Mitchell, and
the winner will be entered into the Christmas Chaos Six-Way Scramble as
the NWA East Heavyweight Champion!
--"Hot Property" Jason Cage will be defending the Brass Knuckles
Championship against not one, but two other competitors! Cage will
defend the title against one-half of the Premiere Players Bobby Beverly
and "Snapshot" CJ Sensation! Beverly and Cage were on opposite teams of
the Survivor Series match at Do Or Die 3 when Beverly rammed Cage's head
into the ring post, causing him to be counted out. Later in the night,
Cage repaid Beverly by chasing him away from ringside to the locker
room, forcing the count-out. They planned to do battle one-on-one at
Christmas Chaos, but plans changed. CJ Sensation wanted to get his hands
on Dash Bennett one more time, but with Bennett refusing to wrestle in
anything other than the Championship Chaos match, he only has one way to
get his hands on "The Greatest American Villain": win a spot in the
six-way. With nobody on the NWA East roster knowing what matches will
lead to a spot in the match, Sensation had no choice but to petition for
a Brass Knuckles Title Match, with the hopes that he can win the title
and a spot in the six-way. But is he looking past the young lions Cage
and Beverly, who are both quite capable of crushing Sensation's chances
of revenge on December 19th?
-Jake Garrett shocked the world when he unmasked to reveal himself as
the mysterious second Blue Dragon who popped up on the scene in NWA East
this past April. Garrett, a former tag team champion in NWA East and
across the Pittsburgh area, one again gained tag team gold with his
partner, Blue Dragon. But, with Double Dragon falling out of contention,
he unmasked and thanked his partner for helping him get another run with
the titles. Then, he shocked his partner by challenging him to a
one-on-one match, saying it will be his final match before he retires
from professional wrestling. The Battle of the Blue Dragons will take
place at Christmas Chaos 3, as the wrestling world says goodbye to "The
Mastermind" Jake Garrett!
--Kid Cupid was feeling generous at Do Or Die 3. After Crusher Hansen
revisited his old persona of Bonecrusher, stole the Midnight Lover's
mask and gear, and dressed up as Rapture from Armageddon as he did when
he won 2003's Burgh Brawl, he still failed to earn his job back in NWA
East. So Cupid promised him one more chance, but only under two
circumstances: Hansen must compete under another old persona of his, and
he must face the man he attacked while dressed as the Midnight Lover,
"The Spotlight" Scottie Gash! If Hansen wins, he will earn his job back.
But Gash is one man who might know Crusher Hansen more so than anybody
on the NWA East roster. Gash and Crusher have been friends, teammates,
and bitter enemies.
--Robert Parker Williams & Benjamin C. Steele might be adding another
member to their ranks. At Do Or Die 3, Ryan Reign told Steele if he can
lead them to the NWA East Tag Team Titles like he led them to victory
against Double Dragon, then he'd gladly sign a contract with Steele. But
first, they have to compete against a team determined by Kid Cupid's
"Tag Team Wanted" Battle Royal! The over-the-top-rope invitational
battle royal will determine the two opponents to face RPW & Reign for
the vacant NWA East Tag Team Championship. Already entered into the
battle royal are: Blue Dragon, Travis Fame, Syko Sean Dahmer, Apollyon,
Criss Crossfire, Payton Graham, Shirley Doe, Gregory Iron, Chris LeRusso,
NWA East referee and NWA East Academy trainee Piston Wiley, Tony Hansen,
Crusher's younger brother and ringside security guard making his in-ring
debut! The last two men standing will take on RPW & Ryan Reign with the
winners walking away with NWA East Tag Team Gold!
--Also signed for Christmas Chaos 3 is the longest reigning NWA East
Heavyweight Champion in the company's history, Chris Taylor, taking on a
disrespectful young star and member of Team Mega, "Division 1" James
Ross. Plus, "Balls Hot" Troy Lords looks for that one big win to put him
in the upper echelon of NWA East as he takes on one-half of the NWA
North American Tag Team Champions "First Klass" Brandon K! All this,
plus much much more!
--It all goes down Saturday night December 19th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
Tag Team Wanted Battle Royal: Already entered: Blue Dragon, Gregory Iron, Travis Fame,
Shirley Doe, Syko Sean Dahmer, Apollyon, Payton Graham, Criss Crossfire,
Chris LeRusso, Piston Wiley, & Tony Hansen Over-the-top-rope invitational battle royal. Final two men standing
will enter the NWA East Tag Team Title Match later in the evening.
"Division 1" James Ross vs. Chris Taylor
"Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. "First Klass" Brandon K
Plus much much more!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake on December 19th!
NOVEMBER 9th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR november 9th: CUPID SIGNS TAG MATCH BUT IS BAFFLED
BY MIDNIGHT LOVER!

--Kid Cupid of the Championship Committee is reportedly a huge fan of
WWE. Ever since he was a littl-... no, smalle-... no... YOUNGER Cupid,
he's been a huge fan of the annual pay-per-view event, Survivor Series.
With Survivor Series right around the corner, Cupid is having a bout of
nostalgia. He's so nostalgic about the old-school elimination ten-man
tag matches of Survivor Series past that he has signed ten NWA East
stars to compete in their own Survivor Series elimination match! Gregory
Iron will captain a team that includes Bobby Beverly, "Platinum" Payton
Graham, and Apollyon & "Syko" Sean Dahmer of the Straight Jacket Mafia.
Across the ring will be NWA North American Tag Team Champion "The
Spotlight" Scottie Gash, NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion "Hot Property"
Jason Cage, "Nuthin' But a Good Time" Travis Fame, Criss Crossfire,
and... The Midnight Lover?! Sources inside the NWA East locker room have
told us that Cupid was baffled following a call from The Midnight Lover,
asking to be placed in a match this Saturday night! Considering the fact
that The Midnight Lover "rode off into the sunset" at Dead Calm 3 on
October 24th, we actually don't blame him! With so many combustable
elements in this match-up, this match is a powder keg ready to explode!
--It all goes down THIS SATURDAY NIGHT at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"Division 1" James Ross vs. "First Klass" Brandon K
"Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. Chris Taylor
Plus an invitational battle royal to determine the 2nd team to
challenge for the NWA East Tag Team Titles in December, and much much more!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake this Saturday night!
OCTOBER 30th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR OCTOBER 21st: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MIDNIGHT LOVER
TAKES OVER SATURDAY?!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for October 30th!
--The Championship Committee took the previous week to collect
themselves following The Midnight Lover's blockbuster announcements.
First off, announcing Kid Cupid as an active member of the NWA East
roster, then resigning and naming Cupid as his successor. Cupid will
take over The Midnight Lover's duties on the Championship Committee,
which are Joe Dombrowski's duties, which The Midnight Lover won in a
match against Dombrowski. In return, Dombrowski is on sabbatical until
the end of the year.
--Ryan Mitchell, CJ Sensation, and Mad Mike defeated Robert Parker
Williams & The Franchise Players back at the beginning of October, and
in doing so, won any item of their choice granted to them by the
Championship Committee. On November 14th, Mitchell & Sensation will be
awarded their items. Mitchell will be challenging NWA East Heavyweight
Champion Ashton Amherst for the title, while Sensation will challenge
"The Greatest American Villain" Dash Bennett for the NWA East Three
Rivers Title.
--"Division 1" James Ross has made a challenge to one of his trainers,
and one-half of the NWA North American Tag Team Champions, "First Klass"
Brandon K. Ross feels slighted after he and Team Mega partner Patrick
Hayes were defeated by K and "The Spotlight" Scottie Gash two weeks in a
row, especially after the impressive showings they gave. Ross feels he
deserves a measure of revenge, and K accepted the challenge. On November
14th, it will be James Ross vs. Brandon K!
--Speaking of Ross & Hayes, did anybody else notice that the two men
were at odds following their loss to Excellence Personified this past
Saturday night? We've heard from several sources in the locker room that
some not-so-kind things were said between the two following the loss,
but that they both ended up at the same eatery together following the
live event. Is there some tension between the Team Mega members? Or is
it water under the bridge?
--"Balls Hot" Troy Lords went to Kid Cupid of the Championship Committee
and asked him for a challenge, feeling like he hasn't been used to his
"full potential" since his debut for NWA East back in August. He
answered right back and informed him that his opponent will be none
other than the longest reigning NWA East Heavyweight Champion in the
company's 15+ year history, Chris Taylor! Our sources within the NWA
East locker room claim that Lords is livid over this choice of opponent
and said that it wasn't what he "had in mind". Can "The Hotness" step up
and win big against one of the most popular stars in NWA East history?
--Why does everybody in the locker room continue to pick on referee
Piston Wiley?
--"The Distinguished Gentleman" Robert Parker Williams will be teaming
up with his new partner, the rookie Ryan Reign, for the first time since
being paired together in a massive 8-man tag Lethal Lottery match this
past Saturday night. RPW's manager, the ever-annoying Benjamin C.
Steele, went to Kid Cupid and asked him for a match to prepare the duo,
asking for something simple, "just like you." Cupid then went and signed
RPW & Reign to take on Blue Dragon & Blue Dragon, the former NWA East
Tag Team Champions Double Dragon! One observer claimed Cupid didn't mean
to book RPW & Reign against the former champs, but instead thought it
was a handicap match since both members of Double Dragon were named Blue
Dragon. Nonetheless, the match is still signed, and RPW & Reign will
have a huge test ahead of them in preparation for their NWA East Tag
Team Title shot on December 19th! Of course, it goes without saying that
if the new duo of RPW & Reign can actually defeat the Dragons, there
might be little doubt they can defeat a first-time team to win the tag
team championship. But with their clashing personalities, and RPW's
tendencies to dislike... well... EVERYBODY, can they survive as a team
long enough to make it to December?
--In the same night that RPW & Reign will be testing themselves, their
opponents will be determined in Stage Two of the solution to find new
Tag Team Champions, an invitational over-the-top-rope battle royal! All
members of the NWA East roster are invited to participate, and the two
men left standing after all the carnage will become brand new teammates!
In December, Stage Three of the solution to find new champs will see the
winners of the battle royal take on RPW & Ryan Reign, and the winners
will capture the vacated NWA East Tag Team Championship!
--As Shirley Doe was ready to spike the rookie looking for "nuthin' but
a good time", Travis Fame, he told Chris LeRusso that Fame's life was in
his hands. Doe and LeRusso have been embroiled in a war ever since Doe
saw something in LeRusso and attempted to recruit him for his army.
Every time Doe was unsuccessful, he beat a lesson into LeRusso, telling
him to forget the fans, because they wouldn't help him. LeRusso did not
give up, despite repeated brutal beatings from the mad man from Dixmont.
When LeRusso saw Fame about to get the same treatment he did, he ran to
Fame's aid. He swore to Doe that he would end the battle, but as the two
men brawled on the floor, Doe tossed powder in LeRusso's eyes and
planted his head on the unforgiving floor with a Sillyhead 2. LeRusso
refused medical attention in the back, instead choosing to challenge Doe
to a match. When presented with the situation, Kid Cupid felt the two
men needed a little something extra for their grudge match, but has not
decided yet what the stipulation will be.
--It all goes down in just over two weeks time at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"Division 1" James Ross vs. "First Klass" Brandon K
"Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. Chris Taylor
Plus an invitational battle royal to determine the 2nd team to
challenge for the NWA East Tag Team Titles in December, and much much more!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake on November 14th!
OCTOBER 21st, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR OCTOBER 21st: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MIDNIGHT LOVER
TAKES OVER SATURDAY?!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for October 21st!
--We're back at The Jacob Woll Pavilion this Saturday night with Dead
Calm 3! For those unfamiliar with The Jake, it's located in McKeesport's

--Unnecessary Roughness is now available to purchase on DVD! This live
event features Ashton Amherst defending the NWA East Heavyweight Title
against his teacher Sterling James Keenan, Crusher Hansen putting his
career on the line once again against Afa Jr., plus much more! Use the
PayPal button on the "Home" page of this website to order!
--This Saturday night is the first live event with The Midnight Lover in
charge, and what a night it's shaping up to be. We've all heard rumors
of the required dance parties, official NWA East Nachos, pink ring mat,
and Scott Steiner Appreciation Nights... but nobody knows what will
really happen until we're all there this Saturday night! Some of the
decisions he's made already have shaken up NWA East.
--As previously announced, Sterling James Keenan returns to The Jake
this Saturday night to take on NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton
Amherst. At Unnecessary Roughness, SJK challenged his one-time student
Amherst for the title, and Amherst was seemingly in a sportsmanlike mood
as he sent his manager, Krystal Frost, to the locker room. But when the
going got tough, he resorted to his old tricks and called Frost to
ringside to hand him the title belt. Amherst hit SJK with the belt and
put him down with the Perfect Plex. After the match, SJK challenged
Amherst one more time, but he warned the young champion he was coming
for a fight!
--Another rematch from Unnecessary Roughness will see NWA North American
Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified defend the titles against two
men who actually pinned them this past Saturday night, James Ross &
Patrick Hayes of Team Mega. Throughout the course of the match, one of
the NWA North American Tag Title belts got involved and Hayes ended up
getting a pin after a frog splash. But when referee PJ Parker rushed the
ring and informed ref Jeff Jefferies about the title belt being used,
Jefferies restarted the match, and Scottie Gash & Brandon K got the win
with stereo Go2Sleeps. After the event, Team Mega went to the
Championship Committee and asked for a rematch since they got the pin on
one of the champions. The Championship Committee conceded, and the match
was signed!
--As The Franchise Players hit their finishing move, the Instant Replay,
this past Saturday, something went horribly wrong for them. The move
involves Bobby Beverly doing a Gory Slam to his opponent while Kronica
catches them with a front lungblower at the same time. The impact of the
move had ill effects on Kronica, as he fell to the mat instantly
clutching his knee. We've heard from sources in the locker room that
Kronica has seen a doctor, and is scheduled for an MRI this week. Early
reports claim he has a slight tear in his PCL. While that injury will
leave Kronica out for an undetermined span of time, his partner, Bobby
Beverly, will be out seeking revenge. His target? "The Steel City
Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell, the man they delivered the Instant Replay to.
Can Beverly shine on his own without being able to reach for a tag,
especially against a man having a hot year like The SCP?
--Also on the injured list is former NWA East Heavyweight Champion Mad
Mike. Prior to missing Unnecessary Roughness, Mike informed the
Championship Committee that he had seen a doctor and has torn a
hamstring. This injury will also keep Mike out for several months, but
we're sure all that anger and frustration will build up during that time
off, and Mike will return as Mad as ever!
--In a story of unfortunate timing, NWA East Tag Team Champions Da
Munchies have informed NWA East's Championship Committee that they have
broken up and will no longer be teaming together. As a result, they have
resigned their spots in NWA East and vacated the NWA East Tag Team
Championship. With one-half of the Franchise Players out, and Da
Munchies leaving the tag division, the Midnight Lover has come up with
an idea to spice up the tag team scene in NWA East! This Saturday night
will see Stage 1 of his plan. Eight NWA East wrestlers will throw their
name into a Lethal Lottery drawing, and the resulting four teams will
square off in a four-way dance. In November, Stage 2 will feature a
battle royal, where the remaining two men will team up. This all leads
to Stage 3: the winners of the Lethal Lottery and the Battle Royal will
face off with the winning team becoming the brand new NWA East Tag Team
Champions! The eight men that will compete in the Lethal Lottery are:
Syko Sean Dahmer & Apollyon of the Straight Jacket Mafia, Blue Dragon &
Blue Dragon of Double Dragon, "Platinum" Payton Graham, Robert Parker
Williams, Criss Crossfire, and Ryan Reign!
--Unfortunately, we have to talk about Benjamin C. Steele right now. He
has called the NWA East Championship Committee once again with claims of
a brand new wrestler being signed to his camp. He has promised the
Championship Committee that there will be no face paint, no Crusher
Hansen, no shenanigans or tomfoolery. Whether that is true or not
remains to be seen, but somehow BC Steele has managed to sign his new
charge to a match against NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion Jason Cage!
Who will be taking on "Hot Property" for the Brass Knux title?
--Chris LeRusso has told the Championship Committee he will be in the
building this Saturday night. What does he have in mind?
--NWA East Three Rivers Champion "The Greatest American Villain" Dash
Bennett has petitioned the Championship Committee to attempt to get the
weekend off. After wrestling two straight weekends against Chris Taylor,
he claims he has earned the night off. The Midnight Lover feels
differently, as he has signed a match for Bennett to defend the Three
Rivers Title. But, he has not told Dash who his opponent will be! What
does The Midnight Lover have in mind for Bennett?
--Two more matches have been signed for this weekend as well. Recent
turncoat "The Cripped Crusader" Gregory Iron will take on "Snapshot" CJ
Sensation, and the mad man from Dixmont, Shirley Doe, will take on NWA
East rookie "Nuthin' But a Good Time" Travis Fame! These two explosive
matches round out the third big NWA East event this month!
--It all goes down THIS SATURDAY NIGHT at the Jacob Woll Pavilion! The card is
as follows...
"Madman" Shirley Doe vs. "Nuthin' But A Good Time" Travis Fame
Plus "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso, and much much more!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Jake this Saturday night!
OCTOBER 15th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR OCTOBER 15th: SMOTHERS SEMINAR AND MORE!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for October 15th!
--We're back THIS Saturday night with Unnecessary Roughness at the
legendary Palisades in downtown McKeesport, PA. There are
directions HERE,
courtesy of Google Maps. Tickets are on sale now by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--This Saturday night will see Tracy Smothers ini action against the
dastardly Dash Bennett with his manager Stacy Hunter. But Saturday
afternoon is your chance to learn from a legend! NWA East will be
holding a seminar with the one & only "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" where he
will teach you his philosophies in and out of the ring. If you are a
professional wrestler and are interested in this opportunity, e-mail
nwaeast@comcast.net before
Saturday. Spots are limited, and the fee is $25. We hope to see you
there!
--Sterling James Keenan returns this Saturday night! He will be taking
on a former protégé of his, the NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton
Amherst. This battle of teacher vs. student has happened in NWA East
rings before. The first annual Sean Evans Memorial Tournament featured
Amherst getting a shot at then-champ SJK. The rookie Amherst came up on
the short end of the stick that night against his former mentor. But now
things have changed. SJK is now an international superstar, doing tours
for Nu-Wrestling Evolution in Europe. Not only that, but his former
student has grown into a superstar of his own, at least in his own mind.
He captured the NWA East Heavyweight Championship in August from "The
Spotlight" Scottie Gash, the second-longest reigning NWA East Champion
in the company's 15 year history. What will happen when the student once
again faces the teacher? Can Amherst prove he has outgrown his old
teacher? Or will SJK once again become NWA East Heavyweight Champion?
--Afa Jr. makes his NWA East debut this Saturday night as he takes on
Crusher Hansen. Technically, this is Hansen's first match since losing a
career vs. career match against Jon Burton at the Anniversary Show at
the end of September. But fans in attendance will claim that Crusher
posed under a previous persona of his, Bonecrusher, to take on JB (and
defeat him via DQ). When Bonecrusher won, JB asked him to deliver a
message to Crusher Hansen: if Hansen defeats Afa Jr., he will be
reinstated to NWA East and regain his spot on the roster. Can Crusher do
it? Or will the former Legacy star and member of the legendary Samoan
wrestling family keep Crusher out of NWA East rings for good?
--National Wrestling Alliance gold is on the line this Saturday night as
the North American Tag Team Champions Scottie Gash & Brandon K,
collectively known as Excellence Personified, will defend the titles
against James Ross & Patrick Hayes of Team Mega! Mega earned their shot
at the titles when Ross defeated Gash this past Saturday night at
Desperate Measures 3. But the victory came at the hands of Gregory Iron,
who took out his frustrations on Gash with a wicked belt shot. With Iron
and Gash apparently having problems of their own, can Gash keep his mind
on the match? Will Iron have another hand in victory for Team Mega?
--Speaking of Iron, he will have his hands full himself this Saturday
night. He will be taking on former NWA East Heavyweight Champion, NWA
East legend, Circle of Respect member, and all-around angry guy, Mad
Mike! Mike is not a man you want to make angry. But when Greg Iron
turned his back on his friends in the locker room and fans in the crowd,
that's exactly what he did. Mike feels that the NWA East fans are some
of the best in the world, and also believes in respect. And respect is
something that Iron did not show the fans or Scottie Gash during his
assault on the former champ, who just happens to be a student of Mad
Mike's. If there's anybody who could beat some respect into the
"Crippled Crusader", it's Mad Mike.
--Chris Taylor made a grand return to active NWA East competition this
past Saturday night. Dash Bennett had an open contract in the locker
room at the NWA East 15th Anniversary Show where the signer of said
contract would compete for Dash's Three Rivers Title while putting their
own career on the line. Chris Taylor was in the building that night and
saw the contract on the wall. With nagging injuries keeping him on the
sidelines for several months, Taylor decided it was make it or break it
time and decided to put his career up for grabs. Taylor signed the
contract, but Bennett was left in the dark as to who he was facing that
night. When Taylor emerged from the locker room Saturday night, the
crowd erupted and Bennett was taken off his game. While he took Taylor
to the limit and came within inches of ending Chris' career, in the end
a distraction from CJ Sensation cost Bennett the title and gave Taylor a
career rejuvenation. This Saturday night, Taylor will defend the title
for the first time as he takes on his old rival, the man who created
several of those aforementioned nagging injuries, Shirley Doe! Taylor
has not forgotten the battles he had with Shirley Doe earlier this year,
and if the past is any indication, this one is sure to be a war!
--The NWA East Brass Knuckles Title is also up for grabs as champion
"Hot Property" Jason Cage will defend the title against "The
Untouchable" Chris LeRusso and "Balls Hot" Troy Lords! Lords dropped the
belt to Cage at the Anniversary Show in September in a three-way dance
with Gregory Iron. LeRusso is embroiled in a war with Shirley Doe, who
broke several of LeRusso's fingers on his already damaged arm. Despite
the injured hand, LeRusso was able to pin Lords in a tag team match this
past Saturday night with his new finishing move, the Near-Death
Experience. With both men recently having victories over "The Hotness",
Lords has nothing to lose, and that makes him more dangerous than ever.
Will he be able to recapture the gold?
--It's a battle of former insects as "Snapshot" CJ Sensation takes on
"The Distinguished Gentleman" Robert Parker Williams! Years ago,
Sensation was wrestling under a mask using the persona of Mantis. He
lost the mask in a Mask vs. Mask match against the dearly departed Devil
Bhudakahn, and soon after became known as Kid Sensation. During that
time, another young man began using the Mantis persona around the
independent scene. As rumor has it, he was given the mask and wrestling
gear by the former Mantis in an effort to continue the tradition of the
mask. In 2008, that young man was unmasked to reveal former referee
Bobby Williams. Williams recently revealed himself to be the CEO of the
Welfare Committee, and revealed his full name as Robert Parker Williams.
Since his "attitude adjustment", RPW has left behind his old persona,
feeling it is beneath him. With Sensation naming him the next generation
of Mantis, he expected RPW to bring more honor and respect to the mask
he made famous. The fact that he did not is the ultimate sign of
disrespect to Sensation. During the Name Your Price six man tag between
Sensation, Mad Mike, & Ryan Mitchell and RPW & The Franchise Players,
Sensation hit his signature move, the Snapshot, on RPW. The Snapshot is
a variation on the Shiranui, also known as the Mantiscide, RPW's former
finishing maneuver. Rumor has it, Sensation delivered the move to RPW,
and even put a little extra impact on it, to send a message to RPW. Now,
these two men will square off on Saturday night!
--When the Franchise Players came to the ring to confront Jon Burton, I
don't think they expected to be met with Ryan Mitchell. Jon Kronica &
Bobby Beverly challenged the former Channel 4 action sports anchor to a
tag team match while JB was in the ring all alone. Soon after, he was
joined by the "Steel City Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell, who accepted the
challenge on JB's behalf! The Franchise Players are on a mission to
prove they've brought tag team wrestling back to NWA East, and a victory
over a team the caliber of Mitchell & Burton might just prove their
point. But with Mitchell having an incredible year, and Burton exceeding
all expectations for somebody just out of his first year in wrestling, a
victory over this first time team might be a lofty goal.
--Don't forget, this is the first night where The Midnight Lover will
take over Joe Dombrowski's duties on the Championship Committee! What
will happen under the rule of The Lover? Required dance parties? Nachos
become the official food of NWA East? Reinstating Kid Ego? A pink mat in the ring?
--It all goes down THIS SATURDAY NIGHT at the legendary Palisades in
McKeesport, PA! The building on the Youghiogheny River at McKee's Point
has held many legendary matches in Pittsburgh wrestling history, housing
such names as Bruno Sammartino, Killer Kowalski, George "The Animal"
Steele, Larry Zbyszko, and many many more. This Saturday night at 7:30
PM, the legacy of Pittsburgh wrestling at the Palisades continues as we
help the local Pop Warner football league raise some money! The card is
as follows...
"Snapshot" CJ Sensation vs. "The Distinguished Gentleman" Robert Parker
Williams w/ Terrence and Benjamin C. Steele
The Franchise Players vs. Jon Burton & Ryan Mitchell
Plus much much more!
-Thanks for reading this edition of "Hot News" and we all hope
to see you at The Palisades this Saturday night!
OCTOBER 5th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR OCTOBER 5th: HOT NEWS FOR SATURDAY NIGHT & NEXT
WEEK!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for October 5th!
--We'd like to thank all our great NWA East fans who showed up for the
NWA East 15th Anniversary Show. We packed the Jacob Woll Pavilion to the
brim with a standing room only crowd for what turned out to be an epic
night, celebrating the past, present, & future of Pro Wrestling eXpress
and NWA East!
--We're back THIS Saturday night with Desperate Measures 3 at the Jacob
Woll Pavilion in McKeesport's beautiful Renziehausen Park. For those of you
new to NWA East or the JWP Megadome, the pavilion is located behind the
tennis courts, and is just minutes from Rt. 48 in McKeesport. There are
directions HERE,
courtesy of Google Maps. Tickets are on sale now by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--October is a hot month for NWA East, with three huge live events. Not
only is Desperate Measures 3 at the Jacob Woll Pavilion this Saturday
night, but we bring professional wrestling back to McKeesport's
legendary Palisades next Saturday night, October 17th! Then, on October
24th, we return to "The Jake" for NWA East Dead Calm 3! All these NWA
East live events feature a 7:30 PM belltime! VIP tickets are $12, while
general admission is $10. All kids 6 & under get in for just $6!
--As we reported last week, former WWE star Afa Jr. will debut for NWA
East at the Palisades on October 17th! But, he wont be alone! October
17th will also feature the return of the one & only "Wild-Eyed Southern
Boy" Tracy Smothers! There is only one Tracy Smothers, and he will bring
his brand of professional wrestling back to the Pittsburgh area for the
first time since July 2008! If the debut of Afa Jr., and the return of
Tracy Smothers weren't enough, former NWA East Heavyweight & Tag Team
Champion Sterling James Keenan will be making his return to NWA East!
Since we last saw SJK, he has been travelling the world, becoming an
"International Badass" for Nu-Evolution Wrestling in Europe! Stay tuned
for more information on Unnecessary Roughness on October 17th!
--But we can't look past this Saturday night's Desperate Measures 3!
After a much-needed week off, the Championship Committee worked hard
over the weekend, signing many matches for this Saturday!
--"The Spotlight" Scottie Gash never got his rematch for the NWA East
Heavyweight Championship, and don't think he doesn't remember that fact.
After he & Brandon K successfully defended the NWA North American Tag
Team Titles against The Franchise Players at the 15th Anniversary Show,
Gash went to the Championship Committee and requested his rematch for
Desperate Measures 3! After much deliberation and thought on the other
championship contenders, the Committee agreed! This Saturday night, "The
Spotlight" Scottie Gash will take on reigning NWA East Heavyweight
Champion, and the man who defeated him for the belt, Ashton Amherst!
-Speaking of Amherst, rumors swirled all through the locker room as to
the reasoning for Dennis Gregory's attack on Mad Mike during his Last
Man Standing match against Ashton. But only NWAeast.org has the truth!
Our source caught up to Gregory following the event, and he informed the
source that he sees a lot of himself in the young Amherst. Not only was
Denny glad to help out somebody who reminds him of himself so much, but
it didn't hurt that he was able to get in a shot against his old
nemesis, Mad Mike, one more time.
--Meanwhile, Gash's tag team championship partner, "First Klass" Brandon
K will be putting a title shot on the line. "Division 1" James Ross &
Patrick Hayes of Team Mega went to the Championship Committee and
requested a shot at the NWA North American Tag Team Champions Excellence
Personified, Gash & K. The Championship Committee relayed this message
to the NWA Board of Directors, and the B.O.D. did not deny the request,
but instead ruled that Ross & Hayes must earn their shot. As a result,
James Ross will take on Brandon K this weekend. If Ross wins, he earns
Team Mega a shot at Excellence Personified and the NWA North American
Tag Team Championship!
--Saturday night will feature a first in NWA East's 15 year history, a
"Name Your Price" six-man tag. Mad Mike, "Snapshot" CJ Sensation, and
"The Steel City Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell will team up to take on "The
Distinguished Gentleman" Robert Parker Williams and The Franchise
Players of "High-Definition" Jon Kronica & Bobby Beverly! But there will
be high stakes in the match: the winning team will be granted one item
of choice by the Championship Committee. That item can be anything from
a title match of their choice, to a hand-picked match against any
opponent, and much more! Who will come out on top in this huge six-man,
and maybe more importantly, what will they choose?
--Da Munchies returned in HUGE fashion at the NWA East 15th Anniversary
Show! Shawn Patrick brought back Dick Trimmins & 2 Kool Abdul as a
special attraction for the show, and inserted them into the Tag Team
Title match last-minute. Unfortunately for Double Dragon and the
Straight Jacket Mafia, Da Munchies were on fire, and were able to
capture the NWA East Tag Team Titles once again! Double Dragon, through
a translator, contacted the Championship Committee about a rematch.
Their reasoning is sound enough: they were never pinned for the titles.
When Dick Trimmins scaled the top rope and came crashing down to the mat
with a big splash, it was on SJM member Apollyon, not one of the
champion Blue Dragons. However, the rules stated one fall to a finish,
with the winners receiving the titles. So the title change stands, but
the granted Double Dragon's rematch request, and the match is on! NWA
East Tag Team Champions Da Munchies will defend the titles against
former champions Double Dragon!
--Dash Bennett & Stacy Hunter are, once again, back together and even
more full of themselves as always. Bennett has offered up an open
contract, "in honor of Crusher's illustrious career." The contract
states that whoever gets the title shot must put their career on the
line, and leave professional wrestling if they lose to Bennett! It's an
odd move by Bennett & Hunter, as they were never particularly close with
Crusher Hansen. It seems to many in the locker room, and behind the
scenes, that they're just trying to capitalize on the hot topic of
Hansen's career being ended by Jon Burton. Who will answer the open
contract?
--On the topic of Crusher Hansen's abrupt demise from NWA East
competition, his manager and longtime confidant Benjamin C. Steele was
reportedly inconsolable following the loss, crying himself to sleep,
listening to "Back
For Good" by Take That, and watching A Walk To Remember while
cuddling with his feline companion. Apparently, that all ended when he
received a call Thursday afternoon from a man who is now his newest
charge. The next day, he contacted the Championship Committee. He asked
for a match where Jon Burton, the man who ended Hansen's career, would
face his new wrestler, which he called "the perfect replacement for
Crusher Hansen..." Who has Steele recruited to attempt to take out JB?
--Brand new NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion "Hot Property" Jason Cage
has had a week to celebrate his title win over "Balls Hot" Troy Lords
and the "Handicapped Hero" Gregory Iron. However, next week it's back to
business as he must defend the title. His opponent will be one of them
men in the three-way dance he won the title in, but the one he did not
defeat: Gregory Iron! Iron pulled a wild card out of his back pocket as
he decided to cash in his Golden Ticket for a shot at the Brass Knux
title he won back in January! Who will come out on top in this battle of
NWA East young lions? Will Iron capture the gold and make Cage a
"one-and-done" champion, or will Cage down the "Crippled Crusader" and
retain the gold?
--After the beating he took from Shirley Doe and a wooden cane, Chris
LeRusso spent several hours at UMPC McKeesport Hospital, having his
fingers looked at. Diagnosed with several broken fingers, LeRusso
refused to lay down, and challenged Doe to a tag team match. Doe chose a
partner in an old friend of his, "Balls Hot" Troy Lords! LeRusso shocked
the Championship Committee with an ace up his sleeve, recruiting his old
tag team partner and former NWA East Three Rivers Champion, "True
Talent" Bobby Shields! Shields & LeRusso teamed to form the Steel City
Saints all across Pennsylvania, and will be reuniting for one-time-only
this Saturday night against Doe & Lords!
--Rumor has it, Championship Committee spokesman Joe Dombrowski is
training for his match against The Midnight Lover by going to the gym
with The Franchise Players, practicing techniques which will make the
Midnight Lover more "apprehensible", and by watching lots of Dusty
Rhodes tapes to help tap into his "funky" side. Has Dombrowski finally
gone off the deep end? Will he be able to unmask The Midnight Lover
himself and finally prove what he's been ranting and raving about for
several months on end, that it is indeed Kid Cupid under the mask? Or
will the Midnight Lover once again prove himself to be a much more
worthy adversary than Dombrowski predicts and earn Dombrowski's job for
the remainder of 2009?
--Join us THIS SATURDAY NIGHT at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in
McKeesport's Renziehausen Park at 7:30 PM for
Desperate Measures 3!! The card features...

SEPTEMBER 24th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 24th: LAST MINUTE NEWS FOR SATURDAY'S
15TH ANNIVERSARY!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for September 24th!
--Former WWE star Aa Jr. will be making his NWA East debut on October
17th! NWA East returns to the Palisades in Mckeesport, PA with our live
event Unnecessary Roughness! Afa Jr. is, obviously, the son of former
WWE Tag Team Champion Afa of the Wild Samoans, and is a member of the
legendary Samoan wrestling family. He was most recently seen on WWE Raw
alongside Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase. There's no early
word on who will be facing Afa Jr., but we've heard word that many stars
on the NWA East roster are itching to get their hands on the original
member of Legacy! Stay tuned...
--We're only 2 days away from the NWA East 15th Anniversary Show! It
will take place on Saturday night, September 26th, 2009 at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in McKeesport, PA's gorgeous Renziehausen Park. For those of you
new to NWA East or the JWP Megadome, the pavilion is located behind the
tennis courts, and is just minutes from Rt. 48 in McKeesport. There are
updated directions HERE,
courtesy of Google Maps. Tickets are on sale now by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--In case you haven't seen on the front page, or the "Events" page, the
NWA East 15th Anniversary show will begin promptly at 7:00 PM! With so
much action and history taking place in the JWP, we had to extend the
live event to 7:00! Be sure you're there by 7:00 or you'll miss the
opening action!
--We reported a few days ago, Dash Bennett was attempting to avoid a
one-on-one match with CJ Sensation in which he would be forced to defend
the NWA East Three Rivers Title against the recently-returned
"Snapshot". Well, due to some clause in the match contract, the match
was made a Dream Partner Tag Team Match, much to the delight of Bennett.
Rumors abounded as to who the two men's partners would be, with Bennett
claiming on every social networking site you could think of that he had
an "awesome partner" in mind, and they would be a "force to be reckoned
with". Meanwhile, CJ Sensation was having trouble finding a partner in a
company he hasn't regularly competed in for almost 3 years. When
Championship Committee member Shawn Patrick caught wind of Bennett's
bragging, he looked into the situation, read between the lines, and
discovered Bennett was looking to bring his Awesome Force 5000 partner
Devin Devine back to NWA East! Patrick immediately put the kibosh on the
idea, reinforcing Devine's indefinite suspension from the company.
Instead, Bennett will now have to defend the Three Rivers Title against
Sensation in a match he refused to compete in several months ago: a
Lumberjack Match! Several members of the NWA East locker room will be
surrounding the ring, making sure Dash doesn't try to run away from the
singles match anymore!
--NWAeast.org's webstaff has gotten wind about two special unadvertised
contests set for the special 7:00 PM belltime, as sort of a "pre-show"
attraction! We're not sure of the exact matches, but the word around the
locker room is that it will feature four of NWA East's young lions in
"Platinum" Payton Graham, Ryan Reign, Criss Crossfire, and "Nuthin' But
a Good Time" Travis Fame! These four young athletes will be poised to
make a name for themselves at the beginning of the night on Saturday on
the biggest stage of the year: the 15th Anniversary Show! With all the
focus on the past and present during the main show, Graham, Reign,
Crossfire, & Fame will put the focus on the future of NWA East!
--We've heard word recently that one-half of the Franchise Players,
Bobby Beverly, has a new workout routine. His pre-match "thrusting" has
been implemented to his workout regimen in an attempt to loosen his
muscles for their big title match against Excellence Personified this
weekend....
--T. Rantula returns to NWA East rings this weekend for the first time
in a decade to be inducted into the Circle of Respect! BRACE YOURSELF!
You can bet that the nacho-loving Midnight Lover has!
--We'd like to squash a current rumor making its way around the internet
this past week. The Championship Committee has not been in contact with
any list of former NWA East stars about
competing against Patrick Hayes & James Ross this Saturday night, as it
will be up to those individuals to step up to the plate to face them.
That list includes but is not limited to: "Kid Ego" Todd Thompson, Axl
Law, Bison, Spiffy Sean Stylez, Jerry "Bamm Bamm" Penders, Black Cat,
Chris Agony, Major Agony, Stealth, Jimmy Anjel, Barry Ray, Big Daddy
Adams, Cleopatra, Kidd Country, The Bubbster, Youth Gone Wild, Jester,
Jester Jr., Luscious Lucas, Frankie Corleone, Cuefa the Flyin' Hawaiian,
Tommy Brown, Amnesiac, Maxim, Masahiro Panic, King Tut, Big Bully
Douglas, Syneka, Feature Presentation, Davey Testament, Garrett

SEPTEMBER 18th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 18th: HUGE LINE-UP FOR 15TH ANNIVERSARY
SHOW ON 9/26!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for September 18th!
--We're almost one week away from the NWA East 15th Anniversary Show! It
will take place on Saturday night, September 26th, 2009 at the Jacob
Woll Pavilion in McKeesport, PA's gorgeous Renziehausen Park.
--As you may already know, the main event for the 15th Anniversary Show
has been signed, and it will be NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton
Amherst defending the title against Mad Mike in a Last Man Standing
Match! These two men could not wait to tear each other apart during
September 12th's No Limits 2 live event, so the NWA East Championship
Committee deemed it necessary to make things a little more interesting,
a little more exciting, and a little more dangerous! Mad Mike was quick
to point out that he has been put through a flaming table, caught on
fire, suffered third-degree burns, and still did not quit, and even WON
the match after that! How will the young, cocky champion Amherst combat
this? He is thus far unproven in matches such as this. Has Mike gotten
the upper hand before the match even begins?
--Amherst's Team Mega partners in Patrick Hayes & "Division 1" James
Ross interrupted the beginning of No Limits 3 this past weekend to run
down some of the people being inducted into the NWA East Circle of
Respect at the 15th Anniversary Show: T. Rantula, Boomer Payne, and
Dennis Gregory. They had some very disrespectful things to say about our
upcoming honorees, especially one Boomer Payne. The only person they
didn't say anything about was "Bad Boy" Brian Anthony. When they
finished, they challenged any Pro Wrestling eXpress legends to a match
at the Anniversary Show. Who will step up to the plate and take on these
disrespectful young punks?
--One match not signed immediately following No Limits 3 has been
announced today! "Snapshot" CJ Sensation will finally get his chance at
Dash Bennett's NWA East Three Rivers Championship. But, it might not be
in the way he likes. Somehow, when the contract was signed, there was an
added stipulation: it will be a dream partner tag team match instead of
one-on-one! Once again, Bennett has done all he can to avoid his
Sensation confrontation, and has refused to face him mano-a-mano! Who
will either man choose? The word from our source in the locker room is
that Bennett had a partner in mind when he signed the match, but
Sensation is having a bit of trouble finding his partner. Who will be
their partners in this match?
--It will be a night of champions on September 26th with all four NWA
East titles on the line, as well as two NWA belts! One of those two will
see NWA National Heavyweight Champion "The Universal Soldier" Phil
Shatter defending the title against "The Steel City Prodigy" Ryan
Mitchell! Mitchell won the opportunity against Shatter by defeating the
man Shatter pinned to win the title, Crusher Hansen. But has he bitten
off more than he can chew? While Mitchell is no slouch in the ring,
Shatter is more machine than man. While he has been on quite a roll this
year, winning the 2009 Sean Evans Memorial Tournament as well as coming
within inches of several championships, Mitchell will have to climb a
6'3", 247 lb. wall that is Phil Shatter! Can he continue his roll and
bring National gold back to NWA East?
--The other NWA title match on September 26th will see the NWA North
American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified defend the titles
against their rivals as of late, The Franchise Players! Jon Kronica &
Robert Beverly have been a thorn in the side of Scottie Gash & Brandon K
for months now, demanding their shot at the belts, claiming they were
better champions during their time as NWA East Tag Team Champions, and
even attacking K & Gash in the parking lot of an NWA East affiliated
event and stealing the title belts! When it came down to it and they
actually had to face K & Gash in the ring, they either walked out, or
used nefarious tactics to win the match, like attacking both men with a
broken turnbuckle. When September 26th, there will be no more running,
and the titles will be on the line! Can Kronica & Beverly live up to
their hype?
--This show will be the first that referee Piston Wiley attends since
his provoked attack on "Platinum" Payton Graham. Will his mind be
focused since he returned from his Joe Dombrowski forced vacation?
--NWA East newcomer and Brass Knuckles Champion "Balls Hot" Troy Lords
will be defending his title against two men on September 26th, "Hot
Property" Jason Cage and "The Handicapped Hero" Gregory Iron! While "The
Hotness" was relying on Crusher Hansen to defend his title against Jon
Burton, Iron & Cage were pinning each other in a #1 contenders match
against Robert Parker Williams. They seemed fairly friendly with one
another before and after the match, but will that stay once the bell
rings? And how can Lords take out two men at once when he hasn't even
made an honest title defense since his NWA East debut one month ago?
--The NWA East Tag Team Titles will be on the line, with a little more
incentive on the line for the champions. The Straight Jacket Mafia, with
their ever-present and ever-annoying manager JC Slick, will take on the
champions Double Dragon. While Blue Dragon & Blue Dragon will have their
minds on keeping their titles, they also have a little bit more to work
for during the match. If Double Dragon lose the match, Apollyon & "Syko"
Sean Dahmer will win the NWA East Tag Team Titles. But, if SJM lose the
match, Double Dragon will get 5 minutes alone in the ring with JC Slick!
After Slick constantly interfered in the Dragons vs. SJM match at No
Limits 3, Double Dragon have nothing but revenge in their mind when it
comes to him. Can they keep their mind on the titles and off of Slick?
Or will SJM once again use Slick as a distraction to get the win over
them?
--Robert Parker Williams seemed to be a bit rattled after No Limits 3.
Not only did he lose his bid at the NWA East Brass Knuckles Title, but
he was informed he had an opponent lined up already: Lou Marconi! The
veteran from Cleveland had come to NWA East officials asking for another
match at this year's anniversary show, but this time with a young lion
from the locker room. With RPW's schedule now free, the Championship
Committee signed the match and it was set! Can the arrogant young
Williams take out the wily former Pro Wrestling eXpress Heavyweight
Champion?
--Crusher Hansen must have lost his mind. For some reason, he is
dead-set on ending the career of Jon Burton. Hansen has recently been
seen, well, practically stalking Burton. He followed him into a
bathroom, attacked him while he was eating a legendary PWX hot dog, and
even cost himself the chance at the Brass Knuckles Title just so Burton
would lose it! Hansen has gone so off-the-wall that he has signed a
Career vs. Career Match with Burton for the Anniversary Show! Hansen is
putting up his 13+ year career against Burton's 1+ year career. However,
calling him crazy might be pushing it. Hansen is a former NWA National
Champion, former NWA North American Tag Team Champion, former NWA East
Heavyweight, Three Rivers, and Tag Team Champion. He is a member of the
NWA East Circle of Respect. Basically, if it could be done in NWA East,
and Pittsburgh wrestling, Crusher Hansen has done it. While he's wildly
popular, and very good in the ring for somebody who has been in there as
long as he's been, Jon Burton is still just out of his rookie year in
professional wrestling. Crusher's experience in wrestling far surpasses
that of Burton's. But is his mind in the game?
--BREAKING NEWS: Travis Fame is still on the hunt for "nuthin' but a
good time." We will keep you updated as things progress...
--Speaking of crazy, the "Madman" Shirley Doe and "The Untouchable"
Chris LeRusso's recent war of mind games will come to a head at the
Anniversary Show. Doe announced at No Limits 3 that a match has been
signed between the two men where the winner will be able to hit the
loser with his weapon of choice 10 times. With LeRusso's growing
fustration with Doe after Doe continually begs him to join Doe's Army
and turn his back on the fans, those 10 lashes might be just what he
needs to vent. But if he loses? Doe is known for having some of the
sickest chair shots in the tri-state area. Ten shots from Doe might just
put LeRusso down and out of professional wrestling for good... if that's
even the weapon he chooses!
--Plus there will be much more action in store! In addition to the
matches, there will be tons of NWA East legends in the house! Not only
will former NWA East Tag Team Champions Scott Venom & All Business Brant
be in the building, and Lou Marconi in action, there will be four Circle
of Respect inductions! Legends T. Rantula, Boomer Payne, Brian Anthony,
and Dennis Gregory will be inducted into our own version of the hall of
fame! Plus, you never know WHO will show up in NWA East! Will there be a
giant hillbilly-turned-gambler? How about a few men who entered NWA East
as bodyguards? Or maybe a former Guinness world record holder? Maybe
some former NWA East Heavyweight Champions? Or SUPERSTAR 2000? You'll
never know until that night who will be seen at the 15th Anniversary
Show!

--We've got several confirmed matches for this Saturday night's card,
and none bigger than the match to determine who will take on NWA
National Heavyweight Champion "The Universal Soldier" Phil Shatter on
September 26th at the 15th Anniversary Show. The first person to throw
his name into the hat was none other than former NWA National
Heavyweight Champion himself, and the man Shatter defeated in January to
win that title, Crusher Hansen! The NWA East Championship Committee spoke
with the NWA Board of Directors and it was given the okay that Crusher
Hansen be given a shot to get his rematch against Shatter! But to do it,
he has to win his match on September 8th against the man who the
Championship Committee deemed worthy enough to compete for a shot at the
title in Sean "Shocker" Evans Tournament winner, "The Steel City
Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell! Hansen already feels slighted that he hasn't
been granted a rematch in the last 8 months, and is now IRATE that he
needs to defeat a man he feels "inferior" to him in order to get his
rematch! Will Crusher be able to get his rematch? Or can the "SCP"
continue his wave of momentum in 2009 all the way to National gold?
--Team Mega of NWA East Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst, Patrick
Hayes, & "Division 1" James Ross issued a challenge to Mad Mike for a
six-man tag team match at No Limits 3, obviously looking to soften the
challenger up for his title match against Amherst at the 15th
Anniversary. Mad Mike sent word to the NWA East Championship Committee
that his hand-picked partners would be two Circle of Respect members:
none other than Vince "Big Time" Kaplack, & Mike's RAGE partner Quinn
Magnum! HOWEVER... Dombrowski told Mike that he would not be able to
choose his partners. Instead, his partners would be chosen by Ashton
Amherst! Dombrowski then informed Mike that he would be teaming with two
NWA East newcomers... Travis Fame & Ryan Reign! Fame is a recent
graduate of the NWA East Pittsburgh Wrestling Academy, and is reportedly
looking for "nuthin' but a good time". Reign is a protégé and trainee of
former NWA East Heavyweight & Tag Team Champion Sterling James Keenan.
While Fame & Reign may have all the potential in the world, they are
thus far unproven in NWA East rings. Amherst, Hayes, & Ross may think
they have pulled one over the eyes of Amherst's future opponent, but you
can't count out Mad Mike and his ability to bring the best out of his
partners. SJK was relatively unknown in NWA East before he teamed with
Mad Mike to capture the NWA East Tag Team Titles! Does Team Mega have
Mad Mike's number as they anticipated? Or can Mike bring out the best in
Fame & Reign?
--We heard from anonymous sources that the #1 contender to the NWA East
Three Rivers Championship "Snapshot" CJ Sensation petitioned the NWA
East Championship Committee to receive his shot at champion Dash Bennett
sooner rather than later... more specifically, this Saturday night! But,
he was informed by Committee Spokesman Joe Dombrowski that he was "too
late, pal" and the title match for Saturday was already signed! Dash
Bennett will be defending his title against... Criss Crossfire?!
Crossfire feels he is deserved some "just desserts" for the attack
Bennett laid on him back in June. But something about this title match
doesn't seem right. Dash Bennett knew going into September that the #1
contender to the title was Sensation, yet he quickly signed a match to
defend the title against a man who, while physically willing and able to
"get the job done" as they say, only holds one victory in an NWA East
ring, and against Kid freakin' Cupid of all people! Is Dash Bennett
avoiding the inevitable Sensation confrontation (if you weeeeeell)? Or
is Crossfire ready to step up and perform like a champion?! To add to
the situation, Bennett's recently-fired manager Stacy Hunter will
reportedly be in the corner of Crossfire! What will she add to the
equation?!
--When Sensation questioned the legitimacy of the aforementioned title
match, and threatened Joe Dombrowski for helping to sign such a contest,
Dombrowski made a quick decision and informed Sensation his opponent on
Saturday will instead be "Madman" Shirley Doe! Sensation's title
aspirations will have to wait another day, as he is challenged with the
most dangerous, unbalanced, methodical, and maniacal professional
wrestlers to ever step foot inside the squared circle. Shirley Doe has
been terrorizing crowds for over a decade, and is showing no signs of
stopping as he has been attempting to persuade Chris LeRusso to join
Doe's army of one. When LeRusso declines, Doe carries out a gross form
of punishment, whether it be a foreign object to the head, or several
broken fingers. Sensation has met Doe in the ring on several occasions,
and has even aligned himself with Doe at one point (as the original
Mantis in the Hellfire Club stable towards the beginning of the decade).
In their battles, CJ has proven himself to match up with the runaway
train known as Shirley Doe. But, since their wild battles several years
ago, Sensation has suffered numerous injuries, including a broken neck
that almost left him paralyzed. Can he bring out that force inside him
that brought him to battle against Doe many years ago? Or will Doe's
tour of madness through NWA East continue?
--We announced last week that NWA East newcomer and brand new Brass
Knuckles Champion "Balls Hot" Troy Lords would defend the title against
the man he betrayed in Jon Burton. Whoever wins that match will be faced
with a tough challenge two weeks later, as they will have to face the
winner of a huge one-fall three-way dance this Saturday Night! Former
Three Rivers & Tag Team Champion Gregory Iron will be taking on the
pompous Robert Parker Williams and "Hot Property" Jason Cage, and the
winner will walk out with a shot at either Lords or JB on September
26th! Cage is immensely popular with the NWA East crowd, and is looking
to get into the title hunt in NWA East, and has the Brass Knuckles Title
on his mind. Meanwhile, Iron needs to strike while the ...uh... iron is
hot, so to speak. He is fresh off of a huge Three Rivers Title reign,
which ranks 5th on the longest Three Rivers Title reigns in NWA East
history, and is still considered one of the top wrestlers in the
company, so Brass Knuckles gold would benefit him greatly. But, then
there's Robert Parker Williams. "RPW" has been appearing at NWA East
events in suits, ridiculous robes & wrestling gear, claiming to be the
CFO to the Welfare Department, forcing his man-servant Terrance to "oil
him down" in preparation for the match. Does he even have gold in his
sights? Or something more... legendary?
--Joe Dombrowski's mission to unmask The Midnight Lover has apparently
become an issue with many people in the NWA East locker room. We saw at
Infection 2 that he enlisted the Franchise Players to assist him. Now,
NWA East newcomer and Pittsburgh Wrestling Academy graduates "Platinum"
Payton Graham and his manager "The Pennsylvanian Sensation" Greg Cherry
have stepped up to the plate. We've heard from our sources inside the
NWA East locker room that Graham & Cherry have been running their
mouths, claiming that they know the secret to unmasking The Midnight
Lover, and that when they do, Graham will be in line for more title
shots than anybody in NWA East history. How they even know those kinds
of statistics is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, they think that
by unmasking The Midnight Lover to supposedly reveal Kid Cupid, that
will be the key to success due to Dombrowski's undying quest to unmask
T.M.L. With Dombrowski rewarding Ashton Amherst with a Heavyweight Title
shot that gave him the gold in August thanks to Amherst's attack on Kid
Cupid, this theory might not be that far-fetched...

--With all this talk about No Limits 3 this Saturday night, don't forget
about our already huge line-up on September 26th at the 15th
Anniversary!
AUGUST 31st, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR AUGUST 31ST: SHATTER
RETURNS AT 15TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW!
Thanks for checking back
with NWA East's "Hot News" for August 31st!
--The biggest news story out of NWA East right now is the return of NWA
National Heavyweight Champion "The Universal Soldier" Phil Shatter!
Shatter was last seen in NWA East back in January at Genesis 2, when he
defeated then-champion Crusher Hansen for the NWA National Title. On
September 26th, 2009, Shatter is coming to the NWA East 15th Anniversary
Show, and he's defending his title that night against one lucky NWA East
star! But who will the Championship Committee, or the NWA Board of
Directors for that matter, deem worthy enough for a shot at the title?
Rumor has it, there's already several names lined up to take on the
champ... but which one will get the chance of a lifetime?
--NWA East's Infection 2 live event from August 22nd, 2009 is now
available to purchase on DVD, thanks to our good friends at Digital
Horizons! Check it out as Ashton Amherst defends his newly won NWA East
Heavyweight Title against Sean "Shocker" Evans Tournament winner "The
Steel City Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell; Jon Burton defends the NWA East Brass
Knuckles Title as he teams with the debuting "Balls Hot" Troy Lords
against Crusher Hansen & Robert Parker Williams; NWA East Three Rivers
Champion Gregory Iron defends the title against Dash Bennett in a TLC
Match; James Ross vs. CJ Sensation, Mad Mike vs. Shirley Doe, and Ryan
Reign vs. Chris LeRusso all determine entry into a Three Rivers Rumble
later in the evening; Jason Cage teams with Double Dragon to face the
Straight Jacket Mafia & Payton Graham; PLUS the Corey Winters & Hobo Joe
answer the open challenge of The Franchise Players, and much much more!
Commentary is provided by James LaMotta, "Klassic" Ken Cole, and Buff
Wilhelm. Purchase it using the PayPal link on our front page!
--What the heck is wrong with Joe Dombrowski? The NWA East Championship
Committee spokesman had his chance to unmask The Midnight Lover and find
out whether or not it was Kid Cupid under the mask... and then he blew
it. Dombrowski ordered The Lover to put the mask back on after it was
half-way off of his face, and return to the locker room. Out of his own
paranoia of being humiliated once again, Dombrowski might have made one
of the biggest mistakes of his recent career. The following attack from
The Franchise Players seemed a little too deliberate though. Was that
Dombrowski's plan from the start, whether the Midnight Lover unmasked to
be Kid Cupid or not?
--Speaking of Kid Cupid, we've heard from several sources that the
possibility of The Midnight Lover actually being Kid Cupid underneath
the mask is nearly impossible. "How could it be?" our resident medical
expert Dr. Nottaquack has been quoted as saying. "Kid Cupid is
suffering from a broken heart! It fractured in five different places. He
is also suffering from an acute case of anorexia as well! It would be
impossible for Cupid to walk under these circumstances, let alone parade
around under a mask!"
--The first few matches for NWA East's No Limits 3 on September 12th,
2009 are rolling in! The Championship Committee was bombarded by
requests this week that the now-former NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion
Jon Burton get a shot at the man who turned his back on JB (did he ever
have his back in the first place?), none other than "Balls Hot" Troy
Lords. Lords, a stand-out athlete for other various promotions around
the Pittsburgh area, made his NWA East debut at Infection 2, teaming
with Burton against Crusher Hansen & Robert Parker Williams. The deal
for this match, supposedly brokered by Benjamin C. Steele, said that
whoever pinned Burton would win the Brass Knuckles Title. And, that's
exactly what happened. With Hansen & R.P.W. incapacitated on the floor,
Lords attacked Burton from behind, dropping him face first with a huge
brainbuster variation. The referee had no choice but to count a 3 and
award Lords the title, as per the pre-match stipulation. With Burton
double-crossed and triple-teamed, he now has his chance to take on "The
Hotness" mano-a-mano! It will be the new NWA East Brass Knuckles
Champion "Balls Hot" Troy Lords vs. Jon Burton!
--Where has Criss Crossfire been? Rumor has it, he's been in high
demand, finishing up dates on his tour as a motivational speaker. We've
heard from his representatives that he will be returning soon though!
--Another match signed for No Limits 3 will involve the NWA East Tag
Team Champions competing against their arch nemeses in non-title action!
Blue Dragon & Blue Dragon, collectively known as Double Dragon, will be
taking on Apollyon & "Syko" Sean Dahmer, the Straight Jacket Mafia!
Since April, these two teams have been unable to keep their hands (or
claws, in the case of the Dragons) off of each other. It all came to a
head at Infection 2. The two teams were involved in a six-man tag, also
featuring Jason Cage and Payton Graham. Before the bell even rang, SJM
jumped Double Dragon at ringside, and the two teams brawled all around
the JWP Megadome. When referee Piston Wiley could not keep things
contained, he called the match a double disqualification. This time,
there will be no titles on the line, no Cage or Graham, and Piston Wiley
is on vacation, placed there by Joe Dombrowski after "conduct
unbefitting of a professional wrestling referee." But, SJM will be
accompanied by their recently hired agent, JC Slick. What will he have
to do with this equation?
--Benjamin C. Steele has paid NWA East's webstaff for his name to be
mentioned in this spot in the "Hot News" section. Benjamin C. Steele.
That is all.
--Have you checked out our NWA T-shirts on
www.thewrestlinggimmicktable.com? We have a brand-spankin'-new NWA
Legends 2009 Hall of Fame t-shirt on sale! The sizes range from our
littlest fans at Small to the fat-guy-friendly sizes at 4 & 5XL! Check 'em
out now, and don't pass up the awesome Sid Vicious t-shirt as well!
--The Franchise Players slightly redeemed themselves at Infection 2,
before making themselves sound completely pompous and arrogant. They
defeated the team of Corey Winters & Hobo Joe in decisive fashion. Joe &
Winters put up a hell of a fight, but the former NWA East Tag Team
Champions were able to put them away with the Instant Replay. However,
immediately following the match, they once again publically took credit
for putting "First Klass" Brandon K & "The Spotlight" Scottie Gash, NWA
North American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified, out of action.
If that wasn't ridiculous enough, they demanded that the National
Wrestling Alliance Board of Directors award them the titles! And if that
wasn't nearly enough, they challenged ANY team the NWA could throw at
them at No Limits 3 on September 12th! What will the NWA B.O.D.'s
decision be? Who will step up and take on the self-proclaimed "uncrowned
North American Tag Team Champions?"
--Join us in less than 2 weeks at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in
McKeesport's Renziehausen Park at 7:30 PM for No Limits 3! To recap,
here's what has been signed so far:
As we reported days ago,
Dash Bennett refused to compete in a Lumberjack Match against Gregory
Iron, claiming Iron has friends in the locker room that would love to
screw him out of the Three Rivers Title. He took his complaint to NWA
East Championship Committee spokesman Joe Dombrowski, and Joe conceded.
Not only would he change the stipulation, but he allowed Dash to choose
what the match would be!
Now, one day before the event is scheduled to take place, Dash Bennett
has made his choice known: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs! Dash's timing has
to be taken into account; a TLC Match takes some preparation, which Dash
obviously had. Iron only has one day to prepare for this battle, which
can take years off of your life.
Gregory Iron may be one of the most inspirational athletes in
professional wrestling today, overcoming all odds to achieve his dream
and compete in a wrestling ring. But, with this HUGE news today, how can
he overcome THESE odds?!
AUGUST 19th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR 8/19: CATCHING ALL THE
NEWS FOR THIS SATURDAY'S INFECTION!
--NWA East officials have added a live event to the
schedule! NWA East UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS will take place on October
17th, 2009, and will be a special showcase taking place at the legendary
Palisades in McKeesport! All tickets will be just $10. check back to
NWAeast.org for more details soon!
--The tag team partners have been chosen! If you may remember, Crusher
Hansen & Jon Burton were asked to select tag team partners for a tag
match finagled by Benjamin C. Steele in which the winner of the fall
will receive Jon Burton's NWA East Brass Knuckles Title! NWAEast.org
received a video from Steele this past weekend and we submitted it to
the Championship Committee. Now, we have official word that we can post
the video, in which "Klassic" Ken Cole interviews Benjamin C. Steele as
Steele reveals Crusher Hansen's tag team partner:
--When the Championship Committee informed Jon Burton of Crusher
Hansen's partner choice in Robert Parker Williams, he responded back
with his choice. He has gone outside the NWA East roster, as instructed
by a contract clause, and found a partner in none other than Troy
Lords!! Lords has been a wrestler in the Pittsburgh area for many years,
capturing many titles around the area. The last anybody heard of Troy
Lords, he had stepped away from professional wrestling this past October
to heal up some old nagging injuries, but nobody dreamed he'd pop up in
NWA East! With this bombshell, how can Crusher Hansen & Robert Parker
Williams battle an unknown entity in NWA East rings such as Troy Lords!
Has Jon Burton overcome the impossible stipulations placed on him by BC
Steele's ridiculous contract?
--Where are Excellence Personified? The NWA North American Tag Team
Champions were last seen this past Sunday, defending the titles at a
live event for NWA East affiliate, APWF, in Commodore, PA. However,
following their successful defense, Brandon K & Scottie Gash were
brutally attacked in the parking lot. Several witnesses on hand,
including APWF officials, have confirmed to the Championship Committee
that The Franchise Players, Jon Kronica & Bobby Beverly, were behind
this heinous attack. We've received word that K suffered a knee injury,
but the extent of which is pending an MRI. Gash reportedly suffered a
serious shoulder injury that might keep him out for an extended period
of time. The Franchise Players had somebody recording the attack, and
even sent the video to the Championship Committee to air on this very
website. However, due to the violent nature of the attacks, and the fact
that it was completely uncalled for, unnecessary, and unsolicited, the
Franchise Players not only will not have their video posted here, but
they WILL be punished to some extent for revealing themselves as K &
Gash's attackers. We'll keep you posted as we hear more information
back.
--CJ Sensation returns to NWA East! He appeared in the crowd during
the six-way at the Sean Evans Memorial, and even got into a brawl with
Dash Bennett during the match. We got word that immediately following
the match, Sensation and Shawn Patrick of the NWA East Championship
Committee reportedly worked out a deal for Sensation to return to NWA
East! His first match back will be against a member of Team Mega, the
young, brash "golden child" of NWA East, "Division 1" James Ross! Ross
has found a vicious streak as of late, putting Gregory Iron down and
almost out of action with a vicious move right on his head. He was also
able to defeat Patrick Hayes in the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament with
his feet on the ropes. Will he put an end to Sensation's big return to
NWA East? Or can Sensation make his first win back a big one?
--Speaking of Dash Bennett & Gregory Iron, the two men were supposed
to be competing in a lumberjack match for Iron's Three Rivers Title. But
now, NWAEast.org has learned that not only has Dash refused to compete
in a lumberjack match, but Championship Committee spokesman Joe
Dombrowski has allowed Bennett to change the stipulation to anything he
wants! This changes the playing field drastically, and gives Bennett an
advantage over the "Crippled Crusader". What will Bennett choose?
--A Battle of NWA East Bruisers has been signed for this Saturday
night as the Madman from Dixmont, Shirley Doe, will be taking on
newly-inducted Circle of Respect member Mad Mike! These two are a couple
of the toughest men ever to enter NWA East rings, and two of the
heaviest hitters as well. They're no strangers to one another, as Doe &
Mike have done battle in tag team matches, multi-man matches, and had
many memorable matches several years ago. With Doe's recent troubles
surrounding Chris LeRusso frustrating him incredibly, and Mike being...
well, MAD, this match is a powder keg ready to explode!
--Since I mentioned LeRusso, let's move on to him. Shirley Doe has
attempted to take LeRusso under his wing as of late. Since LeRusso's
attitude change several months ago, Doe saw something he liked in the
young lion. Doe wants to groom LeRusso to join him. But with Doe being a
sadistic, evil, and generally all-around not-so-nice guy, LeRusso
doesn't want anything to do with him, and would rather be on his own
instead of relying on alliances to other people. With LeRusso's mind on
keeping himself away from Doe, it cost him an opening round match
against Jason Cage at the Sean Evans Tournament. He can't afford to make
that kind of mistake again, as he is now signed to take on the latest
protege of Sterling James Keenan, Ryan Reign! Trained by former NWA East
Heavyweight & Tag Team, and NWA North American Tag Team Champion SJK,
Reign is still in his rookie year. But many experts have commented that
Reign seems to have the edge of the Iron City Superstar in him. Will
that help him in his NWA East debut? Or can LeRusso put his troubles
aside and defeat the young newcomer?
--New NWA East Tag Team Champions Double Dragon have signed for a big
six-man tag team match against their arch-rivals, the Straight Jacket
Mafia. It all began when Double Dragon lost the tournament to crown the
NWA East Tag Team Champions in April. The Franchise Players stuck around
to do a little more damage to Blue Dragon & Blue Dragon, and Apollyon &
Sean Dahmer made the save... or so we thought. That's when SJM took out
a brutal attack on the Dragons, leaving them laying. Since then, these
two teams have come to blows on more than one occasion, all because SJM
were jealous of the fan reactions Double Dragon were getting. SJM even
brought in an advisor, an old "friend" of theirs, in JC Slick. This
weekend, the Dragons team with NWA East young lion Travis Fame! Fame has
been nothing short of impressive in his outings against the likes of
Mantis/Robert Parker Williams, and Ryan Mitchell. Dragons & Fame will
stand across the ring from SJM and their partner, Pittsburgh wrestling's
"most precious metal", "Platinum" Payton Graham! Graham and his
loudmouthed manager Greg Cherry have been a thorn in the side of NWA
East for months now and have yet to make the impact they've been looking
for. A victory with SJM over the tag team champions will give him the
credibility and impact he craves, and will undoubtedly guarantee SJM a
tag team title shot in the future!
--If all this huge action wasn't enough, there's still more! This
Saturday will see the very first THREE RIVERS RUMBLE! There will be 12
competitors in this over-the-top-rope rumble-style battle royal. Two men
will start, with another wrestler entering every 30 seconds. Entry times
will be determined by win and loss time in certain matches earlier in
the evening (i.e. fastest winner enters later, fastest loser enters
earlier, etc). When it comes down to the final two men, the only way to
achieve victory is via pinfall! The winner will become the #1 contender
to the NWA East Three Rivers Championship! Who will emerge victorious?!
--Why is Joe Dombrowski so paranoid?
--Who is Tony SUMMERS' natural arch nemesis? Will we see him in NWA East
rings sooner rather than later?
--We hope to see all of you this Saturday night at NWA East Infection 2!
The event is Saturday August 22nd, 2009 and will emanate from the Jacob
Woll Pavilion in McKeesport, PA's Renziehausen Park. For those familiar
(or unfamiliar) with Renzie Park, it is located across the street from
McKeesport Area High School on Eden Park Blvd. in McKeesport, PA, and is
very close to Penn State: Allegheny Campus (formerly McKeesport Campus).
The Pavilion is located behind the tennis courts, at 4112 Sycamore Dr.

AUGUST 14th, 2009 HOT NEWS FOR 8/14: FALLOUT FROM THE
SEAN EVANS TOURNEY!
--The DVD for the 2nd annual NWA East Sean "Shocker" Evans
Memorial Tournament is now available for purchase here on NWAeast.org!
This DVD features the titular tournament as well as three non-tournament
matches and a Circle of Respect induction! Fans in attendance on August
7th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in McKeesport witnessed Ryan Mitchell vs.
Robert Parker Williams, James Ross vs. Bobby Shields, Patrick Hayes vs.
Lord Zoltan, and Chris LeRusso vs. Jason Cage in the opening round of
the tournament. Plus, NWA East Heavyweight Champion "The Spotlight"
Scottie Gash defended the title against Ashton Amherst in the First
Chance Title Match, NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion Jon Burton defended
his title against B94's Bubba the Bulldog in a Pittsburgh Media Dream
Match, and Crusher Hansen, Mad Mike, Shirley Doe, Brandon K, Dash
Bennett, & Gregory Iron did battle in a six-way scramble for a shot at
the NWA East Heavyweight Champion on September 26th! Much thanks to our
good friends at Digital Horizons for the great DVD release as always!
The DVD features commentary from newcomers James LaMotta and "Klassic"
Ken Cole, as well as Buff Wilhelm. It's available on the front page of
the website for just $15!
--The first official match for August 22nd's INFECTION 2 was signed
immediately following the completion of the Sean "Shocker" Evans
Memorial Tournament this past Friday. Brand-spanking-new NWA East
Heavyweight Champion Ashton Amherst will make his first official defense
of the title against Sean Evans Tournament winner, the "Steel City
Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell! Mitchell faced Amherst in May as the two men
were embroiled in the Chosen Four competition to determine just who got
that title shot that helped propel Amherst to his title victory. Amherst
came out on the winning end back in May, but Mitchell just came off the
biggest win of his NWA East career as he defeated Robert Parker
Williams, James Ross, and Patrick Hayes all in the same night! Can he
keep his momentum going and unceremoniously unseat the new champion? Or
is this just the beginning of a long title run from the brash young
champ Amherst?
--What is the deal with Dash Bennett lately? The former NWA East Three
Rivers, Brass Knuckles, and Tag Team Champion appears to be falling
apart at the seams. First, he beat the hell out of his former associate,
Criss Crossfire. Then, he starts verbally and physically abusing his
manager and the ONLY person who believes in him, Stacy Hunter. Now, he
starts attacking fans in the crowd. Now, the fan he got into an
altercation with isn't merely a fan, but a former NWA East star. That
notwithstanding, Bennett needs to straighten up or else his career is on
a big downfall. Can he rebound from these missteps? And how does Stacy
Hunter feel about the situation? Hunter is notoriously outspoken and
doesn't take anything from anybody. Why is she staying with Bennett?
--Another match has been made official following the Sean Evans Memorial
Tournament. Bitter rivals Jon Burton and Crusher Hansen will have to
hand-pick their own tag team partners as they square off in a tag team
match with title implications. Hansen's one-time manager Benjamin C.
Steele reappeared after a self-imposed hiatus (or vacation, depending
who you ask), with a contract in hand. That contract stated that in this
tag team match, whoever pinned NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion Burton
would win the title! Plus, not only would Hansen be able to choose
whoever he wanted to be his partner, Burton could also... as long as
they were NOT active members of the NWA East roster! Hansen seemed
ecstatic with this news, and with Steele, for the first time in months.
Has Steele redeemed himself in the eyes of Hansen? Will he re-sign BCS
as his manager? And who will both men pick?
--The attitude change with Robert Parker Williams is astounding. In
addition to new tights, he came to the ring at the Sean Evans Memorial
Tournament with a ridiculous robe he claims cost him a fortune. As the
CFO to the Federal Welfare Committee, RPW seems to loathe the very
people he benefits with the money he provides to welfare recipients.
What is the reasoning for this attitude change? Has he always been into
this kind of money? Why didn't he ever tell anybody? And what's the
story with his man-servant Terrence?
--Former NWA East Tag Team Champions The Franchise Players might have to
be taken a little more seriously. Not only by us here at NWAeast.org, or
the fans, but by NWA North American Tag Team Champions Excellence
Personified. Brandon K was eliminated from the six-way scramble at the
Sean Evans Memorial thanks to interference from the shunned Players.
And, later in the night, they changed the course of NWA East forever
when they cost Scottie Gash the NWA East Heavyweight Title, attacking
him during his title defense against Ashton Amherst. Angry they've been
shunned by the NWA Board of Directors and NWA East Championship
Committee for a rematch against Brandon K & Scottie Gash for the North
American Tag belts, Jon Kronica & Bobby Beverly took matters into their
own hands and attacked the champs, making quite an impact. Now, they've
issued an open challenge to any team that wants to step up and face
them. Will this be a mistake and hurt the momentum they picked up by
making a statement?
--There are brand new NWA t-shirts now available on

AUGUST 10th, 2009 Midnight Lover
Caught?!?!.... Because Of Quinn Magnum????
At the Sean 'Shocker' Evans Memorial Show, NWA-East Championship
Committee Spokesperson Joe Dombrowski made his way to the ring with a
gym bag in hand. Joe explained that this was The Midnight Lover's bag
and he was going to go through it to find proof that The Midnight Lover
is indeed Kid Cupid!!
Joe went through the bag and found no proof, but decided it would be
fun to defile the contents in the bag. At that point, The Midnight Lover
came out with a gym bag on his arm and proclaimed to Joe that the bag
Joe had was not his but rather Quinn Magnum's.
Just then, Quinn came out and made his into the ring at which time Joe
began to beg and plead and apologize to Quinn. Joe even placed all of
the items back into the bag and attempted to make peace, but to no
avail. Joe then decided to try and run away but found himself back in
the ring and the recipient of a Midnight Lover stunner.
With Joe out of commission, Quinn asked if the Lover wanted to join
him for some nachos and drink at the concession stand, but Quinn
refereed to The Midnight Lover as Kid Cupid!! Some fans in attendance
caught it immediately while others found out later in conversations.
Word spread through the backroom quickly and once Joe Dombrowski was
able to function once again, he was informed by some members of the
lockeroom.
Joe quickly took the issue to NWA-East Championship Committee Member
Shawn Patrick, who was in attendance that night as well. Word has it
that Joe has secured an advanced copy of the dvd of the show and has
played it for Shawn Patrick.
Within hours Shawn Patrick had contacted and questioned Quinn
Magnum and released the following surprising statement:
"The Championship Committee has discussed the Midnight Lover/Kid
Cupid situation with Mr. Quinn Magnum and have found that, after
numerous questions and answers, we feel as though Quinn has been
deceiving and not forthcoming in his responses.
This comes as a very discouraging sign that Spokesperson Joe
Dombrowski was indeed correct about his accusations and that more than
just a few people are involved in this deceit, including the very man
that we have entrusted to oversee the entire lockeroom on the nights of
live events in Quinn Magnum.
So, at this time, the NWA-East Championship Committee has ruled that
at our next live event on Saturday, August 22nd, The Midnight Lover must
come out to the ring, stand before Joe Dombrowski and unmask. if the man
behind the mask is not Kid Cupid, then he may place his mask back on and
continue working here in the NWA-East. However, if it does turn out to
be Kid Cupid, then not is Kid Cupid going to be escorted from the
building never to be asked back, but we will have no choice but to
terminate Quinn Magnum's position within the company as well and any
other people that were in on it will be heavily reprimanded too."
This statement comes as a surprise to us here at NWAEast.org as we
had heard rumors that Shawn Patrick was in the building at the last
event to not only pay tribute to Sean Evans, but to hand down a 90
suspension to Joe Dombrowski. So, this is indeed a major turn of events
and could put a heavy strain on the 13 years friendship between Shawn
Patrick and Quinn Magnum.
Finally, we have been in contact with Joe Dombrowski within minutes
of this news article and he also had a surprising take on the situation
at hand by saying "I should feel vindicated at this development, but I
must admit that I feel as though I am being set up yet again to be
humiliated...yet again. I will nip this in the bud, I can assure you of
that!!"
What does that mean by Joe Dombrowski? Who knows, but it appears that
if Kid Cupid is The Midnight Lover, then we will see that last of both
of them on August 22nd, plus, more than a decade of running the backroom
during live events will come to screeching halt for one Quinn Magnum.
That then brings up the question of who would replace him??
We will all know in less then two weeks!!
AUGUST 3RD, 2009 HOT NEWS LEADING INTO THE
FRIDAY'S 2ND SEAN EVANS MEMORIAL TOURNEY
--This Friday night is the 2nd Annual Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial
Tournament! It takes place in the Jacob Woll Pavilion in McKeesport,
PA's Renziehausen Park on Sycamore Dr. For those unfamiliar with Renzie
Park, the pavilion is located behind the tennis courts, and is just
minutes from Rt. 48 in McKeesport. Tickets are on sale now at
www.thewrestlinggimmicktable.com or by contacting NWA East at
nwaeasttickets@comcast.net
or nwaeast@comcast.net.
--The Sean Evans Memorial Tournament is highlighted by, what else, the
Sean Evans Memorial Tournament! This year, we're guaranteed a new winner
as last year's inaugural winner, Chris Taylor, is still taking time off
from wrestling to heal various injuries. The winner of the tournament
this year will receive a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight Championship
at our next live event, Infection2, on Saturday August 22nd.
--Taylor's opponent in the finals, Patrick Hayes, has vowed that he will
win this year's tournament, no matter what, by hook or by crook! Can he
pull off the victory this year? With Team Mega behind him, it may be
possible! But his opponent, Pittsburgh wrestling legend Lord Zoltan,
might have something to say about it! Zoltan fell to Hayes last year via
count-out in the first round. This year, he wants to keep Hayes from
getting such a cheap victory as he did last year. Can he do it and
continue on in the tournament this year?
--The winner of Hayes vs. Zoltan will be taking on the winner of "Hot
Property" Jason Cage vs. "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso! Cage has lived
up to his nickname in NWA East since his return in late March. The
Pittsburgh Wrestling Academy graduate has been on a hot streak as of
late, and has all the potential to take the tournament this year. But on
his way, he'll have to go through a man with a personality crisis as of
late, Chris LeRusso. The former NWA East Three Rivers & Brass Knuckles
Champion returned in the spring from a potentially fatal abdominal
injury with a new lease on life... and a new attitude to boot.
With nothing on his mind but revenge, gold, and success, LeRusso's mind
has become clouded by Shirley Doe. But while Doe is trying to sway
LeRusso to the dark side, he has chosen to rely on himself and nobody
else. Can LeRusso keep his head in the game and advance over Cage?
--In the other half of the tournament bracket, we see "The Steel City
Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell taking on the newly-rechristened Robert Parker
Williams. The 2008 NWA East Young Lion of the Year Williams reappeared
at Summer Assault 3 in July, with no signs of Mantis in him at all. He
had different tights, bleach-blonde hair, and a young man named Terrence
who appears to be nothing more than a man-servant to Williams. On the
other side of the ring is one of the most popular NWA East stars in
recent memory. Trained by Rocky Johnson (father of Dwayne "The Rock"
Johnson), Mitchell debuted in NWA East this previous fall and has
captured the adoration of the fans in such a short amount of time. This
young star has a bright future ahead of him, but does that future
include a victory in the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament? With Robert
Parker Williams practically DEMANDING attention and respect from the
very fans he signs the Welfare checks for, can he pick up some momentum
with a victory over Mitchell?
--When they do advance, they will face the winner of "Division 1" James
Ross vs. the returning "True Talent" Bobby Shields! Shields hasn't been
seen in an NWA East ring since November of 2008, but has been keeping
very busy as of late. He has since been competing for Ring of Honor as
well as Pro Wrestling Ohio, a nationally-broadcasted promotion out of
the Cleveland area. Shields was one of the first competitors who threw
his name into the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament this year, choosing to
return to NWA East to pay tribute to Sean. His opponent will be a man he
hasn't faced in a year, James Ross! Since joining up with Krystal Frost,
Ashton Amherst, and Patrick Hayes to form Team Mega, Ross has seemed to
gain a more aggressive streak to him. The last time we saw Ross, he was
planting Gregory Iron on his head, nearly ending the young man's
inspirational wrestling career. Can Ross channel that ruthless
aggression into a tournament victory this year?
--In non-tournament action, six men will collide in a match that will
have HUGE championship implications in NWA East. Crusher Hansen, Mad
Mike, Brandon K, Gregory Iron, Dash Bennett, and Shirley Doe will square
off in a six-man elimination match where the winner receives an NWA East
Heavyweight Title Match in September at the NWA East 15th Anniversary
Show. Last year, Scottie Gash won this match and went on to the
Anniversary Show to defeat Sterling James Keenan and Chris Taylor and
win the title. Crusher, Mike, and Brandon are no strangers to the NWA
East Heavyweight Title, with 8 reigns of just that title between the
three of them. Iron is on the cusp of breaking out and becoming a
heavyweight title contender, taking Gash to his limit in January and
coming within inches of winning the title. Dash Bennett would love
nothing more than a shot at the title to finally break through into the
upper echelon of NWA East with an NWA East Heavyweight Title, the one
belt that has eluded him his entire NWA East career. And, while Shirley
Doe just came off a hot feud with Scottie Gash for the title, another
shot at Gash and the belt would make the Madman from Dixmont a happy
man... or, as happy as Shirley Doe can get. With Dash vs. Iron and
Mike vs. Crusher being such hot issues lately, and Doe willing to take
out anybody to get his hands on Gash again, this match is like a bomb
ready to explode!
--In another non-tournament match of the night, but possibly the
biggest, NWA East Heavyweight Champion "The Spotlight" Scottie Gash
defends his title against the winner of the Chosen Four contest, Ashton
Amherst. Amherst has never held the NWA East Heavyweight Title, and
feels he is more than deserving of his title shot. With Krystal Frost
and Team Mega behind him, can he actually pull off the biggest victory
of his young career? Not if Scottie Gash has anything to say about it.
Gash has become the second longest reigning NWA East Heavyweight
Champion in the company's 15 year history, and is very proud of it. But
after a long war with Shirley Doe over the title, paired with defending
the NWA North American Tag Titles as well, and immediately being faced
with Amherst after a grueling match with Doe in July, is Gash 100% going
into the match? Will Amherst's "First Chance" be all he needs? Or can
Gash continue his dominant title reign and continue on to face the
winner of the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament on August 22nd?
--The final other non-tournament match features the huge return of former
NWA East star and B94 morning DJ Bubba the Bulldog as he takes on NWA
East Brass Knuckles Champion and former Channel 4 sports anchor Jon
Burton! Bubba hasn't been seen in NWA East in 9 years, since he left the
promotion in 2000. According to Crusher Hansen, Bubba feels that Burton
has stolen his spotlight, and he wants it back. Will the mega-popular
Burton be able to take out the mega-loudmouthed Bubba? Or can Bubba
reclaim his throne as the premiere Pittsburgh media superstar in the
squared circle?!
--In other news around NWA East, Crusher Hansen was recently seen talking
with his advisor Krystal Frost. After Frost was very obviously missing
in action on July 17th at Summer Assault 3, and with Benjamin C.
Steele's imminent (yet unwanted) return this Friday night, what were
they discussing?
--The Franchise Players have a huge problem with NWA North American Tag
Team Champions Excellence Personified (Scottie Gash & Brandon K). After
EP cost the Players the NWA East Tag Team Titles, and frustration after
being left off one of the biggest shows in Pittsburgh this year, how far
will they go to take out those frustrations on the champs?
--Quinn Magnum, Bigg, Shawn Patrick, Blade, Bubba the Bulldog, and Lord
Zoltan are all returning to pay tribute to Sean "Shocker" Evans. In
Sean's memory, proceeds from this show will be going to Wesley Spectrum
Services, According to their website, "Wesley Spectrum Services is at work for over 3,000 children and over 7,000
family members right now in our unique school, mental health, and family
programs across Western Pennsylvania. Guided by our unique Kid-Centered Decision
Making method, a picture for each of these children today looks very different
from a picture a day, a week, a year ago... Wesley Spectrum is helping
to repair and strengthen families, improve the fabric of our communities, and
create new, bright futures." For more information on them, visit
www.wesleyspectrum.org.
--Mad Mike will be honored by the NWA East Circle of Respect as he is
inducted into the Circle, NWA East's own version of the hall of fame.
Mike has been a staple of NWA East since his debut in 1996, associating
himself with such groups as the Gentleman's Club and RAGE, and capturing
the NWA East Heavyweight Title. We will have a more in-depth look at Mad
Mike in NWA East later this week right here on NWAeast.org. With Mike
being honored this Friday night, he also looks to start a new chapter in
his career as he enters the six-man elimination match for a shot at the
title. After Mike's dominating Burgh Brawl 13 performance, can he once
again come out of a multi-man match with a title shot?
--After the Midnight Lover has outsmarted NWA East Championship Committee
spokesman Joe Dombrowski time and time again, Dombrowski seems to have
lost his marbles at Summer Assault 3. What will he do this time to prove
his theory that the Midnight Lover is Kid Cupid? Reasoning with him
hasn't worked, attacking him hasn't worked, even unmasking him hasn't
worked. What is left?!
--Team Mega seems to be poised with the most to gain out of this Friday
night's event. James Ross & Patrick Hayes are entered into the
tournament where the winner receives a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight
Title on August 22nd. Krystal Frost is managing Crusher Hansen in the
elimination match where the winner gets a shot at the title at the
Anniversary Show on September 26th. And, Ashton Amherst has a chance to
walk out of the event with the NWA East Heavyweight Championship. Will
these young lions of NWA East reign supreme after Friday night?
--Have you been checking out your NWA East DVDs lately? We have a few new
additions on commentary in James LaMotta and "Klassic" Ken Cole. These
men breathe a new life into the NWA East live event DVDs, alongside NWA
East mainstay Buff Wilhelm. Digital Horizons does a great job each and
every time with our live event DVDs, so pick some up today, or this
Friday at the show!
--That's all from us today. We hope to see you all this Friday night at
the JWP Megadome for the 2nd annual Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial
Tournament at Renzie Park in McKeesport, PA!
AUGUST 3RD, 2009 THE FRANCHISE PLAYERS JUST CAN'T KEEP
THEIR MOUTHS SHUT
Once again, Jon Kronica & Bobby Beverly, the Franchise Players, have
sent NWAeast.org another video. Once again, they complain about the
treatment they're getting from the NWA East, NWA, and specifically, NWA
North American Tag Team Champions Brandon K & Scottie Gash. They talk a
big game, but when the time comes, can they back it up and finally step
up their game against Excellence Personified?
JULY 20, 2009 ASHTON WINS CHOSEN 4, GETS
"FIRST CHANCE"
On July 17th, Ashton Amherst literally pulled a victory from the jaws of
defeat at the last possible second as he was named the winner and the
man that most impressed the NWA-East Championship Committee in the 2
months long 'Chosen Four' contest. The Chosen Four were four top, young
wrestlers in the promotion that have never held the heavyweight title
and they were charged with attempting to be the one who impressed the
Championship Committee the most and thus winning the 'First Chance'
heavyweight Title Match at the 2nd Annual Sean 'Shocker' Evans Memorial
Show on August 7th.
Locked in a virtual deadlock heading into the July 17th event,
each of the four participants had one match in which to showcase
themselves in the most impressive manner possible and not one of the
four disappointed.
Jason Cage allowed the other men he was in competition with to
choose his opponent for the evening. The choice was former 4-time
heavyweight champion, former NWA National Champion, and former NWA
North American Tag-Team Champion Crusher Hansen. cage pulled off
what has to be considered a major upset and pinned Crusher to start
the evening.
James Ross then went into backup plan mode as he altered his
match by taking on both the current Three Rivers Champion Gregory
Iron and the (what was at the time) current Brass Knuckles Champion
Patrick Hayes in a three way elimination match. Ross eliminated
Hayes first after Hayes literally laid down for Ross. Ross then
completed his impressive task by defeating Gregory Iron.
Ryan Mitchell then managed to run a three man gauntlet match by
defeating rookie Travis Fame in under three minutes and then
defeating former Brass Knuckles and Three Rivers Champion Chris
LeRusso in the second portion of the match. Then, Mitchell finished
off running the gauntlet by defeating former Brass Knuckles, Three
Rivers, and Tag-Team champion Dash Bennett.
Ashton Amherst, sensing that Mitchell was clearly the man to
beat, altered his match as he took on 6-times worth of heavyweight
champions in both the still suspended Devin Devine and Brandon K.
Amherst pulled off the near miracle he needed by pinning both men at
the same time!!
Once it was determined that Scottie Gash was still the
Heavyweight Champion after he defeated Shirley Doe in what many are
calling the "Match of The Year" to this point, Championship
Committee Spokesperson Joe Dombrowski called out the top two
finalists: Ryan Mitchell and Ashton Amherst. As Amherst made his way
out, he confronted and attacked thorn in Joe Dombrowski's side Kid
Cupid who was sitting at ringside enjoying a night at the matches.
This last second, obvious preplanned attack by Amherst was the
difference in Joe Dombrowski's eyes as he was the man that was given
the authority to make the final call between the two finalists who
were also in a virtual deadlock according to the Committee.
Dombrowski announced that he had planned on naming Ryan Mitchell the
winner of the Chosen Four contest right up until he witnessed
Amherst dismantle Cupid, so now Joe named Amherst the winner much to
the disapproval of the capacity crowd and Ryan Mitchell.
So, as always, controversy follows Joe Dombrowski and the man
who won the Chosen Four contest Ashton Amherst as Amherst heads into
the biggest match of his young career against Heavyweight Champion
Scottie Gash. Meanwhile, the other three participants in the Chosen
Four (James Ross, Ryan Mitchell, and Jason Cage) were extremely
impressive in their two month long quest and have also been rewarded
by being entered into the 2nd Annual Sean Shocker' Evans Memorial
Tournament.
JULY 14, 2009 NWA EAST LEGENDS RETURN
SOON! PLUS, SEAN EVANS TOURNAMENT NEWS!
NWA East legends will be returning to the Jacob Woll
Pavilion very soon!
Pittsburgh wrestling legend Lord Zoltan has been entered into the
Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament on August 7th! Last year,
Zoltan was entered into the tournament, only to have victory stolen
away by eventual finalist Patrick Hayes. How will Zoltan fare this
year?
NWA East's Championship Committee have also confirmed with us that
there WILL be a new winner of the Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial
Tournament this year! They contacted Chris Taylor about entering
this year, but he is still on the sidelines, taking some time off to
nurse some nagging injuries that forced him to step away from pro
wrestling a few months ago.
The Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament will also feature
appearances by NWA East legend BIGG as well as Circle of Respect
member Quinn Magnum!
Bigg also returns to NWA East at the company's huge 15th Anniversary
Show on September 26th at the Jacob Woll Pavilion. He will be joined
by another Circle of Respect member, the "One Man Party", Big Poppa
Gator!
JULY 8, 2009 DENNIS GREGORY SET FOR 15TH
ANNIVERSARY SHOW CIRCLE OF RESPECT INDUCTION
It has been over a decade since 'The Goldenboy' wreaked havoc in
an NWA-East ring, but Dennis Gregory's impact has never been
forgotten. Now, at the PWX 15th Anniversary Show, Dennis Gregory
joins the list of former allies and enemies that will be inducted
into the 'Circle of Respect'. The final list is a who's who of PWX's
heyday: Boomer Payne, T-Rantula, 'Bad Boy' Brian Anthony, and 'Goldenboy'
Dennis Gregory.
Dennis Gregory was widely considered the most well-rounded
wrestler in PWX during his time in the promotion and he proved it by
successfully stepping into the ring against a wide array of men from
the 500 pound Gator or Klubber Korbelic to the land of big men in
the 6'6 Quinn Magnum or the 6'8 T-Rantula or even the nearly 7 foot
tall Leviathon to the mat wrestlers like Lou Marconi or Paul Atlas
to the highflyers of the day in JB Destiny or Brandon K. It didn't
matter who they were, Dennis Gregory wrestled them all with no fear
and was always one of the top ranked wrestlers in the promotion.
Gregory's time in PWX was wildly successful as he was able to
capture the now defunct PWX North American Title an unprecedented 4
times as he also was the first ever champion of that particular
title. Gregory defeated fellow "Circle Of Respect" inductee 'Bad
Boy' Brian Anthony in July 1996 in the tournament finals to be the
first to wear the North American Title belt. Gregory then won the
title a second time by ending Lord Zoltan's title reign only 1 day
in. A third North American Title would come to Gregory in February
1997 after he defeated Lou Marconi in what was a long, bitter feud
between the two men. Gregory then managed a fourth title reign after
pinning Mad Mike just a few months later.
The PWX North American Title would later become the PWX
television title which, in turn, would become the fore-runner to the
current NWA-East Three Rivers Title as the second most prestigious
title in the promotion. Dennis Gregory would also become a tv
champion by defeating his longtime enemy Lou Marconi. This title
would lead Gregory to heavyweight Title shots against then champion
Quinn Magnum. While Gregory was not able to capture the top prize,
he took the champion to the brink on several occasions. Gregory's TV
title reign would prove to be truly gold for PWX as this was the
television heyday of the promotion with Gregory as one it's main
staples.
Just for good measure, Gregory would also capture the PWX Tag-Team
Titles with JB Destiny by upsetting then ECW regulars The BWO (Blue
Meanie and Stevie Richards). This was a dream team of sorts for PWX
fans as the two most popular singles wrestlers were now dominating
the tag-team ranks.
That makes six titles for Dennis Gregory in a two year period and
it would of been many, many more if his stay here would of
continued. many speculate that he could of been the most dominant
wrestler the NWA-East had ever seen if he was still here today.
Ultimately, Dennis Gregory was one of the cornerstones that put
Pro Wrestling eXpress at the top and as a result is able to
celebrate it's 15th Anniversary which is something of a phenomenon
for independent wrestling promotions. Now Dennis Gregory will get
his just due on September 26th as he will forever be etched in PWX
history as a member of the 'Circle of Respect'.
JULY 8, 2009 AMHERST KEEPS EVERYONE GUESSING WITH
HIS CHOSEN FOUR MATCH
Ashton Amherst has managed to throw a curveball into the Chosen
Four race for the First Chance Heavyweight Title Match at the
2nd Annual Sean 'Shocker' Evans.
Originally, Amherst had selected his opponent to be one of
PWX's feared and fiercest wrestlers ever in Mad Mike. But now,
Ashton has decided to not wrestle Mad Mike after finding out
what each of the other opponents in the Chosen Four have come up
with in their respective matches to try and impress the NWA-East
Championship Committee. Amherst even went as far as to say that
defeating Mad Mike is not close being enough to win the Chosen
Four race. Ashton said that he reconsidered because he felt that
beating an old one time heavyweight champion is not his idea of
impressive.
Ashton has stated that he does indeed have an opponent lined
up and that this opponent is a NWA-East Grand Slam winner,
meaning that he has held every title the promotion has had to
offer. Amherst was quick to point out that he will be the only
one wrestling a Grand Slam winner and that to top it off, this
man's controversial history goes back eight years in the
promotion and has a total of 7 titles won in his career in the
NWA-East.
Will this new revelation by Ashton Amherst alter anyone else's
game plan going into July 17th? Who is the new opponent Ashton
has come up with that he says is even more impressive that Mad
Mike? Will the deceptive game plan of Amherst's pay off?
The last time NWA East fans saw
Mantis, they heard him say that they wouldn't like it the
next time they saw him. Well apparently, none of us had any
idea what he meant...
JULY 7, 2009 THE FINAL CHOSEN FOUR MATCHES SIGNED
AND MORE HOT NEWS!
With the Chosen Four in a dead heat, it is now up to them to decide
how they can impress the NWA East Championship Committee! If either
James Ross, Ashton Amherst, Ryan Mitchell, or Jason Cage can do
something extraordinary to impress the committee or their
spokesperson Joe Dombrowski, then they will be awarded the "First
Chance Heavyweight Title Match" against Scottie Gash or Shirley Doe
(whoever the champion may be after Summer Assault 3) at the Sean
"Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament on August 7th.
However, the Committee has given them one boundary: you must prove
yourself to them in ONE match only at Summer Assault 3. When it came
time for the matches to be signed, "Hot Property" Jason Cage allowed
the other three members of the Chosen Four to choose his opponent.
We're unsure of how the voting went between the remaining three, but
the end result was former NWA National Heavyweight Champion Crusher
Hansen! It would make quite an impression of Cage were to defeat
Hansen, a veteran of NWA East rings and one of the most accomplished
performers on the roster.
"The Steel City Prodigy" Ryan Mitchell decided to go another way.
His effort to prove himself to the Championship Committee will come
in the form of a self-chosen Gauntlet Match! His opponents will be
"Platinum" Payton Graham, "The Untouchable" Chris LeRusso, and Dash
Bennett! While LeRusso & Bennett are both former NWA East Three
Rivers & Brass Knuckles Champions, Graham is an all-but-untested
rookie to NWA East rings. Mitchell realized this, and has claimed
that if he can not defeat Graham in under three minutes, he will
lose the Gauntlet Match right then and there!
Upon hearing Mitchell's challenge, "Division 1" James Ross said that
Mitchell may be able to take on FORMER Three Rivers Champions, but
his match will be against the CURRENT Three Rivers Champion! James
Ross has chosen to face the "Handicapped Hero" Gregory Iron to try
and impress the Championship Committee! Iron has been on a roll
lately, and a victory for Ross will not only impress the
Championship Committee, but also has the possibility of putting him
in line for a Three Rivers Title shot in the future!
Ashton Amherst hasn't allowed the other three to choose his
opponent. And he hasn't chosen a former champion to take on. He hasn't
even chosen three other people to go through in one match. Instead,
he's going after one of the biggest, baddest dogs in the yard.
Ashton Amherst has chosen to face former NWA East Heavyweight
Champion and Burgh Brawl 13 winner MAD MIKE! A win over Mike would
certainly not only impress the Championship Committee, but everybody
in Pittsburgh wrestling. Mike has been one of the most dominant
performers in NWA East's history, and Amherst is still a relative
newcomer to the business in comparison to the veteran Mike!
Also signed for Summer Assault 3 is a three-way match for a spot in
the Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament. NWA East newcomer and
Pitsburgh Wrestling Academy graduate Travis Fame will be taking on
the recently returning Matthew Justice, and the recent thorn in his
side, Mantis! Mantis has felt slighted in the last few months, not
being chosen to participate in the Fan Appreciation Night, then
being booked against Fame after he defeated him in an impromptu
match at the aforementioned Fan Appreciation Night. Then, when
neither man was scheduled to compete at Ring of Fire 3 in June,
Mantis demanded a match, and was booked against Fame on the fly by
Joe Dombrowski. In a shocker, Fame rolled up Mantis with a victory
roll to score his first win in professional wrestling. After the
match, Mantis promised the fans the next time they saw him, they
wouldn't like what they saw. Now, toss Matt Justice into the mix,
hot off of a victory over Dash Bennett & Criss Crossfire with his
one-time tag partner Gregory Iron! Who will be entered into the Sean
Evans Memorial Tournament, and what the heck was Mantis talking
about? Rumor has it, we might find out sooner than July 17th...
As mentioned below, the Franchise Players will defend the NWA East
Tag Team Championship against Blue Dragon & Blue Dragon, the team of
Double Dragon! The Franchise Players feel like they deserve a shot
at NWA North American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified,
despite walking out of a previous title shot. With Excellence
Personified scheduled to make a title defense at Summer Assault 3,
what will the Players have to say about that? And, are they focused
enough for when they take on the Dragons?
Also signed is NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion Patrick Hayes
defending the title against the man he beat for the title, and the
man who beat him for it, "JB" Jon Burton! The brash Hayes has his
sights set on the Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Tournament on August
7th. Last year, Hayes made it to the finals before losing to Chris
Taylor. This year, Hayes has claimed he will do whatever it takes to
take the tournament for himself, and earn the title shot at
Infection on August 22nd. But first, he must go through the ever
popular sports anchor-turned-wrestler Burton! Will JB be able to
regain the title?
JULY 7, 2009 THE FRANCHISE PLAYERS
PLANNING TO GO OVER JIM MILLER'S HEAD?
The NWA East Tag Team Champions, Robert Beverly & Jon Kronica, the
Franchise Players, feel they deserve better competition in NWA East.
Their idea of better competition are the NWA North American Tag Team
Champions, Excellence Personified (Brandon K & NWA East Heavyweight
Champion Scottie Gash). The Franchise Players were taking on
Excellence Personified in a champions vs. champions match when they
grabbed their belts and walked out, effectively ending the match,
losing by count-out, and proving they felt they were going to lose
their titles to Gash & K. However, when Ring of Fire 3 came around,
they were once again demanding a shot at Gash & K once again. Joe
Dombrowski refused their request, reminding them that they walked
out of their one chance at the titles. But now, as they're scheduled
to defend the titles against Double Dragon on July 17th... they feel like
they have to do more than ask NWA East Championship Committee
spokesman Dombrowski for a shot...
JUNE 27, 2009 BOOMER PAYNE SET FOR 15TH
ANNIVERSARY CIRCLE OF RESPECT!
Boomer Payne will now also be inducted into the Circle Of
Respect at the 15th Anniversary Show. Payne has not been a
regular competitor in the NWA-East for seven years, but has made
spot appearances here and there over the years with the most
recent being the reincarnation of 987 in 2005.
Payne made his debut in PWX in late 1996 as part of the Xtreme
Militia with partner Major Agony. He was known as Colonel Payne
then. The team was one of the top rated teams in the promotion
feuding with the Giant Hillbillies and Stix and Stones, but
never were able to capture the tag-team titles. It wasn't until
Boomer Payne made an impromptu appearance at ringside during a
tag-team title match between then champions Stix and Stones and
Gator(of the Giant Hillbillies) that he won the titles. Gator
and Payne reigned for almost eight months as champions which was
the longest tag-team title reign in the promotion's history for
a decade until the Straight Jacket Mafia broke that record in
2007.
Payne would again hold the tag-team titles with partner
Bonecrusher (Crusher Hansen) as a part of the short-lived team The
Bomb Squad. This title reign would last only a month as they
lost the titles to Vince Kaplack and Rock'N'Roll Express member
Robert Gibson. The team disbanded shortly after that.
Payne then changed his name to Boomer, a nickname he has had
since childhood, and began a carefree attitude that would lead
to his being a charter member of the now infamous 987 along with
JB Destiny and Big Poppa Gator. 987 is considered as one of the
most popular and controversial groups ever to be in the
NWA-East. Their wars with the group RAGE were violent beyond
belief as one particular Weapon's Match led Payne to yet another
tag-team title with partner JB Destiny and a heavyweight title
win for Big Poppa Gator.
987 would be at the top of the promotion for a year and a
half before disbanding and this is where Payne became one of the
biggest villians in NWA-East history. In 2000, a young upstart
promotion known as the Pittsburgh Wrestling League(PWL) made the
bold move of running shows in the same building as PWX (NWA-East)
and even began outdrawing the longtime staple company. A war of
words were exchanged by both promotions and eventually a full
scale war of epic proportions began as it was Payne, who was one
of the most vocal members of PWL, turned on his renegade company
and rejoined PWX. At the time, PWX was considered by many to be
the unpopular promotion as fans cheered wildly for PWL. The move
by Payne was truly reviled by the fans, but Payne took control
of a sinking ship in PWX and turned it around. A reformation of
987 would also be in the works as this time it would be Payne
who ran the group and not JB Destiny. The move would pay off as
PWX would continue and eventually win the war.
Payne would be one of the early winners of the Three Rivers
Title defeating Super Hentai for the title, before ironically
enough, losing it back to Hentai in a Weapon's Match, the same
way he won the tag-team titles earlier.
Boomer Payne's legacy in the NWA-East is one of sickening
falls and bloody, violent matches, but is also one of a man with
no size advantage, no weight advantage, and no agility
advantage, becoming one of the most dominant wrestlers the
promotion has ever seen over a 3 year period through nothing but
determination and cunning. Payne's extraordinary efforts will
now be recognized as he enters the Circle Of Respect at the 15th
Anniversary Show.
JUNE 27, 2009 PATRICK HAYES THROWS HIS
NAME INTO THE SEAN EVANS TOURNAMENT
The NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion and former NWA East Tag Team
Champion Patrick Hayes has been invited into the Sean "Shocker"
Evans Memorial Tournament, set for August 7th in McKeesport, PA!
Thanks to his current championship status, and his star-making
performance in last year's tournament, the Championship Committee
dubbed him a worthy first round entrant. Last year was huge for
Hayes, as he defeated Pittsburgh wrestling legend Lord Zoltan in the
first round (via count-out), then NWA North American Tag Team
Champion and former multi-time NWA East Heavyweight Champion Brandon
K in the second round. In the finals, he took longest-reigning NWA
East Heavyweight Champion Chris Taylor to his limit, but eventually
lost, making Taylor the winner of the tournament.
This year, Hayes has vowed not to fall in the final round once
again. He has even been quoted as saying that this year there will
nothing or no one that will stop him from winning the tourney, he
doesn't care how much he has to cheat to do it!
JUNE 22, 2009 SHIELDS RETURNS! NEWS
POURS IN ABOUT SEAN EVANS TOURNAMENT!
Former Three Rivers Champion Bobby Shields will be making his
return on Friday, August 7th as he has entered his name, and been
approved by the Championship Committee, into the 2nd Annual Sean
'Shocker' Evans Memorial Tournament! Shields is the first of 8 men
that will compete in the tournament, won last year by Chris Taylor.
As an added bonus to winning the tournament, the winner will
automatically receive a heavyweight title shot at the following show
on Saturday, August 22nd. Since Shields was last seen in NWA East,
he has traveled across the country, competing for such companies as
Ring of Honor, and has been seen across the country on national
television via the Pro Wrestling Ohio TV show on Sports Time Ohio!
The huge multiple wrestler elimination
match that has also become a mainstay on the Sean 'Shocker' Evans
Memorial Show is beginning to take shape as 3 former heavyweight
champions have placed their names in the hat for this matchup. As
like last year, the winner of this grueling match will secure
themselves a heavyweight title match in the main event at the
Anniversary Show, which just so happens to even bigger than usual
with it being the 15th Anniversary Show this year.
The men that have decided to enter themselves into this match are
Crusher Hansen, Mad Mike, and Brandon K. Between these three men
there are 2 NWA North American Titles, 1 NWA National Title, 8
Heavyweight Titles, 2 Three Rivers Titles, 1 Brass Knuckles Title,
and 8 Tag-Team Titles. That is quite the list and it clearly show
that wrestlers are now choosing very carefully as to which way to go
on the 2nd Annual Sean 'Shocker' Evans Memorial Show: Enter in the
Elimination Match to attempt to secure a spot in the main event of
the Anniversary Show wrestling for the Heavyweight Title or enter
the grueling tourney and try to become one of a very select few to
hold that trophy over your head and receive a Heavyweight Title
Match at the very next show. Both scenarios are extremely rewarding,
but it seems this year wrestlers are choosing very carefully!
JUNE 22, 2009 CRUSHER HANSEN CALLS OUT
CIRCLE OF RESPECT NO-SHOW DESTINY
Former NWA East star JB Destiny has been scheduled to be inducted
into the NWA East Circle of Respect, our own version of the Hall of
Fame, for over a month now. Before May's In Harm's Way 3: Ray Mendez
Fan Appreciation Night, Destiny called NWA East officials and
cancelled off the event. But when he agreed to appear this past
Friday night to accept the award, he was a no-call, no-show.
When Circle of Respect member Crusher Hansen discovered this, he
took matters into his own hands. He stormed the ring before his
match, demeaning Destiny and calling him out for disrespecting him
and the entire Circle of Respect by no-showing his own induction.
While NWA East and its officials by no means endorse Hansen or
represent his line of thinking, the facts remain: JB Destiny was not
inducted into the Circle of Respect, and Hansen called out JB
Destiny, demanding a face to face encounter.
That all notwithstanding, the next NWA East Circle of Respect
induction will take place at the Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial
Tournament on August 7th, when Mad Mike will be inducted! At the NWA
East 15th Anniversary Show, former NWA East Heavyweight Champions T.
Rantula and "Bad Boy" Brian Anthony will be inducted.
Rumor has it, a HUGE name will be announced for the Circle of
Respect this week... one you would NEVER EXPECT TO SEE IN AN NWA
EAST RING!
JUNE 22, 2009 THE CHOSEN FOUR SITUATION HEATS UP
GOING INTO SUMMER ASSAULT!
The Chosen Four race to the First Chance Heavyweight Title Match
at the 2nd Annual Sean 'Shocker' Evans Memorial Show just got a lot
tighter as both Jason Cage and Ryan Mitchell picked up much needed
victories on June 19th to give each of them, along with both James
Ross and Ashton Amherst, one win and one loss. The Championship
Committee has declared that the race is a virtual dead heat as each
man can claim a win or a loss against another down the line of
contenders.
So now, the Friday, July 17th live event will be a huge one as it is
now in the hands of each of the Chosen Four to come with and execute
their own game plans on that show as the winner is to announced by
the end of the night on July 17th. The following show is the Sean
'Shocker' Evans Memorial Show and one of these men: James Ross,
Ashton Amherst, Ryan Mitchell, or Jason Cage, will indeed have the
chance of a lifetime to become a heavyweight champion in the
NWA-East for the first time!!
JUNE 22, 2009 GASH AND DOE TO TANGLE ONE MORE
TIME: NO DISQUALIFICATION
Friday, June 19th proved one thing at least; Shirley Doe, who
thinks he is the champion, will get one last crack at the current
heavyweight champion Scottie Gash as their violent match ended in a
controversial draw as Gash made Doe tap out at the same time as Doe
managed to get the three count and pinfall on Gash. One referee
raised Gash's hand in victory while the second referee raised Doe's
hand in victory. This brought out Championship Committee
Spokesperson Joe Dombrowski who ruled the match a draw which led to
the fans in attendance to chant 'Let them Fight" and "5 More
Minutes". Dombrowski then said that Gash and Doe will indeed meet
one last time on July 17th in a No DQ Match for the NWA-East
Heavyweight Title. Dombrowski also hinted that he will seek another
stipulation on top of the one he mandated, but did not elaborate as
to what that may be as of yet.
JUNE 16, 2009 BENJAMIN C. STEELE IS GONE!... BUT ONLY
TEMPORARILY
In news that is sure to make NWA East fans worldwide type a
smiley--faced emoticon, Benjamin C. Steele has confirmed he will NOT
be in attendance for the next two NWA East live events at the Jacob
Woll Pavilion! He claims he is going on vacation, and letting
Krystal Frost handle Crusher Hansen's managerial spot since that's
what Crusher seems to be interested in.
In related news that is sure to make NWA East fans worldwide type a
frowny-faced emoticon instead, Steele indicated he will return on
August 7th at the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament to see how things
are going. That's enough typing about him. Even writing a news story
about him grates on my nerves. Here's his video he sent to us here
at NWAeast.org...
JUNE 15, 2009 CRUSHER HANSE PLAYS MIND GAMES WITH JON
BURTON
For a former NWA National and North American Tag Team
Champion, Crusher Hansen has resorted to child-like games to try and
get inside the head of Pittsburgh sports anchor and former NWA East
Brass Knuckles Champion "JB" Jon Burton. Although things got serious
at NWA East's Unforigven 3 as both men attacked each other, with
Hansen costing JB the Brass Knuckles Title, and JB in turn costing
Hansen the NWA East Heavyweight Title, Hansen seems to have gone
back to his child-like antics. This time, Hansen attempted to mess
with Burton, in the bathroom of all places!
This video was anonymously sent to NWA East's web staff, so of
course, we shared it via the wonder of YouTube for all our fans to
see:

MAY 23, 2009 "BAD BOY" BRIAN ANTHONY
CONFIRMED FOR CIRCLE OF RESPECT ON 15TH ANNIVERSARY
Former NWA East Heavyweight Champion, NWA North American Champion,
and uncrowned NWA World Heavyweight Champion "Bad Boy" Brian Anthony
has been confirmed as the second induction into the Circle of
Respect set for the NWA East 15th Anniversary Show! Anthony showed a
loyalty to NWA East that many other wrestlers never did. That
loyalty resulted in several title shots that Anthony turned into
title victories. He was once considered to be the best wrestler to
come out of Pittsburgh, and we will honor him on September 26th!
This year, NWA East will be
recognizing the core
group of wrestlers that made PWX what is it today. In our 15th Year,
and after nearly 1000 people coming through the NWA-East's doors,
the NWA-East would like to have the Circle of Respect up to 15
members - one for each year in business. Look for even more huge
announcements in the coming weeks!
MAY 23, 2009 THE FRANCHISE PLAYERS SPEAK
ON THEIR TARGETS: GASH & K
The Franchise Players explain their quest for NWA North
American Tag Team Championship quest against Excellence Personified
of Scottie Gash & Brandon K...
MAY 19, 2009 T. RANTULA TO BE INDUCTED INTO CIRCLE
OF RESPECT AT 15TH ANNIVERSARY!
The NWA East 15th Anniversary Show on September 26th, 2009 is
set to be the biggest live event in the history of NWA East.
Included in the festivities will be one of the biggest
inductions into the NWA East Circle of Respect... theoretically
AND literally!
The giant T. Rantula will be inducted into the Circle of
Respect, NWA East's own Hall of Fame, at the 15th Anniversary
Show! Rantula is a former PWX Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion
(with fellow C.O.R. inductee Quinn Magnum) and was one of the
most dominant champions, and wrestlers in general, in the
company's history.
Rantula also boasts appearances with "the top 3", WWF, WCW, and
ECW, as well as most top wrestling companies all across the
country.
He has consistently been one of the top competitors in any
company he appears in. His stable in NWA East, the
W.E.B.B., took over the company just as dominantly as their
leader, with his partner Mauler also capturing the heavyweight
title. Even though T. Rantula stepped away from the company in
1999, his legacy remains as NWA East pays tribute to the giant
former champion on September 26th!
MAY 18, 2009 BUBBA THE BULLDOG RETURNS
TO NWA EAST!!!
Former NWA-East Heavyweight Bubba The
Bulldog has confirmed his return to the NWA-East for the 2nd
Annual Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Show on Friday, August
7th!!
Bubba was one of the cornerstones of the NWA-East/PWX from
1996 thru 2000 having even defeated both Samu and Shane Douglas
in a triple threat match by pinning BOTH men at the same time at
the Old WrestlePlex to win his only Heavyweight Championship.
Bubba thrived on controversy as he was one of the most hated
men in PWX and to this day remains one of the all-time greatest
villains in the NWA-East's history. Having been extremely
popular upon the beginning of his wrestling career, Bubba found
that management and wrestler's alike would not take him totally
serious because he was a popular morning DJ in Pittsburgh. Many
people underestimated Bubba and he made them pay dearly for it
when he turned his back on everyone and did things "his own
way". Bubba would go on to feud with some of the most popular
and successful men in the NWA-East history such as: Samu, Shane
Douglas, Mad Mike, Boomer Payne, Sean Evans, Vince Kaplack, T-Rantula,
Quinn Magnum, Paul Atlas, Brian Anthony, Brandon K, Crusher
Hansen, and JB Destiny to name a few.
At the end of his stay in the NWA-East, Bubba once again
became a fan favorite when he his loyalty was questioned by
some of the PWX mainstays in the classic PWX versus PWL war that
encompassed over a year and a half in late 1999 into the
beginning of 2001. Soon after, Bubba would exit the NWA-East and
remain gone until August 7, 2009.... just over 2 months from now
at the 2nd Annual Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial Show. A little
known fact here is that Bubba formed a group called the Dog
Pound years ago and it was quite the formidable group as it
included Vince Kaplack, Bubba, and Sean Evans himself!
How will the fans react to Bubba? How will Bubba react to
everyone in the Jacob Woll Pavillion that night? One thing is
for sure, Bubba has indeed stated that he will be there to honor
his longtime friend, Sean "Shocker" Evans....
MAY 18, 2009 SCOTT VENOM FIRST RETURNING
STAR FOR 15TH ANNIVERSARY!
The 15th Anniversary Show for the NWA-East is still over 4
months away, but already and old friend(or nemesis depending on
how you look at it) has called the Championship Committee and
informed them that he wants in on the fun and carnage of the
milestone 15th year celebration. He is none other than Mr. Scott
Venom!!
Venom's list of accomplishments in the NWA-East are truly
impressive as he was the first ever Three Rivers Champion nearly
a decade ago. He also has been 1/2 of the Tag-Team Champions on
four occasions, and a Brass Knuckles Champion twice. Scott even
was the first AWC Heavyweight Champion as the AWC was the
NWA-East for a period of just over a year when Paul Atlas became
owner at Jim Miller's expense. Venom's title reign was
short-lived as an eye injury prematurely ended his time at the
top and ultimately his career in his title loss to Crusher
Hansen.
Even with that list of accomplishments, Venom's most daring
coup took place when he became an interim member of the NWA-East
Championship Committee in place of Vince Kaplack and as a result
was able to manipulate himself into total control of the
Committee. Venom then quickly dissolved the Committee and placed
himself in charge of everything NWA-East. Venom would reign with
an iron fist over the promotion for almost a year until he
inadvertently managed to cause the reformation of the group RAGE
in which that led to his downfall. Venom's reign was both
sadistic and comic as he and his bodyguard "All Business" Brant
were, at times, a new version of Abbott and Costello with their
fumbling and bumbling of major issues.
But when it came right down to it, Venom's actions were
ruthless and well thought out as he was able to rid the
promotion of two longtime favorites, at least for a while, in
Brandon K and Quinn Magnum(two of Venom's biggest threats). He
even almost successfully drove the ultra popular Justin Idol out
of the promotion, but fell just short of goal of that and his
overall ambitions of running his own "galaxy" called the
NWA-East.
Scott Venom's return to the NWA-East at the 15th Anniversary
Show should be quite interesting to say the least and could even
prove to be stunning if Venom comes in with any ambitions of a
ruthless return!!
MAY 14, 2009 HOT NEWS LEADING INTO UNFORGIVEN 3 ON
MAY 23RD
After a huge Fan Appreciation Night on May 9th, NWA East rolls on
through to Unforgiven 3!
After the main event tag team match, NWA East Heavyweight Champion
"The Spotlight" Scottie Gash has been challenged by former NWA
National Champion Crusher Hansen! Gash has accepted, and these two
old teammates and rivals will do battle once again! Can Crusher end
Gash's 8-month reign?
Despite only having possession of the title belt, and not an actual
title reign, Shirley Doe still believes he is the NWA East
Heavyweight Champion. He will be taking on former ACTUAL NWA East
Heavyweight Champion Mad Mike! These two are two of the
hardest-hitting wrestlers in Pittsburgh, and proved it in the ring
during the main event tag team grudge match on May 9th, and this
match will be sure to be no different!
Two men on a collision course are NWA East Three Rvers Champion
Gregory Iron and former champion Dash Bennett! After Bennett made
completely rude comments to Iron about his cerebal palsy, he went to
attack Iron, but was met with the Three Rivers Title instead!
Bennett's hand was broken, and he knew what it was like to be in
Greg's shoes for a night. But, Bennett took it one step further. He
attacked Iron from behind and injured Iron's back. Bennett even
promised to injure more than that in the future. When these two meet
for the Three Rivers belt on May 23rd, who will walk out victorious?
The Chosen Four will begin their attempt to impress NWA East
officials en route to the First Chance Title Match at the 2nd Annual
Sean Evans Memorial Tournament. "The Steel City Prodigy" Ryan
Mitchell will take on Ashton Amherst. Meanwhile, "Hot Property"
Jason Cage will face "Division 1" James Ross! Who will impress NWA
East officials most on May 23rd?
NWA North American Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified,
Scottie Gash & Brandon K, have been challenged by Jon Kronica &
Robert Beverly, collectively known as the Franchise Players. The
Players, current NWA East Tag Team Champions, feel they are the top
tag team in the company, and think Gash & K are disrespecting them
by not defending the NWA North American Tag Team Championship. So,
the NWA East Championship Committee are leaving it up to YOU, the
fans! You can vote here on NWAeast.org on what the tag team title
match will be on May 23rd: an NWA East Tag Team Title Match, an NWA
North American Tag Team Title Match, or both! Check out the main
page, or click HERE to vote!
NWA East Brass Knuckles Champion "JB" Jon Burton won his title by
defeating then-champion Ashton Amherst's partner Patrick Hayes after
Amherst repeatedly refused to defend the title against the
Pittsburgh sports anchor. Burton ended up pinning Amherst in another
match, but Hayes has never lived down the loss. On May 23rd, he'll
get his chance to redeem himself as he'll get a shot at Burton's
Brass Knuckles Title!
May 9th saw a change in Chris LeRusso. Sporting new war paint and a
focused intensity we've never seen from him before, LeRusso informed
the locker room that "things have changed..." What does LeRusso mean
by that? NWAeast.org has heard rumors that LeRusso will be aiming to
get back into the NWA East Three Rivers Title picture on May 23rd!
On May 9th, NWA East saw the in-ring debut of "Platinum" Payton
Graham and his manager, "The Pennsylvanian Sensation" Greg Cherry.
Both men attempted to make an impact as Graham attacked Mad Mike
while Cherry ran down the NWA East legend on the mic. But, that was
short lived as Graham suffered a quick and painful loss to Mike.
But, Cherry has sent word to NWA East and the Championship Committee
that Graham will be back on May 23rd, looking to make an impact once
again! How will he go about it this time?
Somebody upset he was not included in Fan Appreciation Night was
Mantis. He stormed the ring before intermission, demanding an
opponent. While his request was not met, he found one in NWA East's
top graduate, Travis Fame. He asked Fame to join him in his
diabolical dealings in NWA East, but Fame refused. Mantis proceeded
to take his frustrations out on Fame, with vicious knife-edge chops
and a brutal seated dropkick in the corner, eventually stealing the
win with the help from the ropes. This time, Fame will be more
prepared as his first scheduled match will be against Mantis! Will
Mantis once again come out on top? Or will Fame live up to his
reputation as the top Pittsburgh Wrestling Academy grad?
Also in action will be Stacy Hunter's answer to Chris Taylor, Criss
Crossfire! Hunter has called Crossfire the "next Chris Taylor" and
he has proven to be a loyal asset to her stable, with Dash Bennett.
How will Crossfire make his impact on May 23rd?
MAY 14, 2009 2ND ANNUAL SEAN EVANS MEMORIAL TAKING
SHAPE WITH THE "CHOSEN FOUR"
In 2007, NWA East lost a longtime friend and one of the greatest
competitors to step into the NWA East squared circle in Sean
"Shocker" Evans. Last year, we brought in 200+ fans to honor his
memory and pay tribute with the Sean "Shocker" Evans Memorial
Tournament! This year, we're looking to do the same!
Last year, a few new traditions began. First, the Sean Evans
Memorial Tournament. This year, the field of eight will compete in a
one-night, single-elimination tournament, and the winner will
receive a shot at the NWA East Heavyweight Championship on August
22nd at Infection 2!
Another tradition was the First Chance Title Match. A wrestler who
has never held the NWA East Heavyweight Title will get a shot at the
champion, and their chance to hold the title. This year, things are
being changed up a bit as the NWA East Championship Committee and
spokesperson Joe Dombrowski have informed four individuals that they
are being looked at in contention to get the title shot: Ashton
Amherst, Ryan Mitchell, Jason Cage, and James Ross. Between May
23rd's Unforgiven 3 and the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament, there
are 3 live events. At those three live events, the so-called "Chosen
Four" have been assigned with impressing the Championship Committee
with their performances. Whichever competitor gives the best
performance at May 23rd's Unforgiven 3, June 19th's Ring of Fire 3,
and July 17th's Summer Assault 3 will receive the title shot at the
Sean Evans Memorial Tournament!
On May 23rd, Mitchell will take on Amherst, and Cage will face Ross.
On June 19th, Cage will take on Amherst as Ross will face Mitchell.
But things change on July 17th as it's "Wrestlers' Choice"! It will
be up to the wrestlers themselves to come up with whatever they can
do to impress Dombrowski and the Championship Committee! What will
they pull out of their sleeves when the time comes?
Also set for the Sean Evans Memorial Tournament is the
multi-participant elimination match for a shot at the NWA East
Heavyweight Title at the 15th Anniversary Show in September. Last
year, five men competed and only Scottie Gash was left standing.
When the time came for his title shot in September, Gash defeated
Chris Taylor and Sterling James Keenan to win the title, a reign he
is still currently defending! Will somebody have the same luck as
Gash this year?
We'll have more information on the 2nd Annual Sean "Shocker" Evans
Memorial Tournament as the time draws near. Stick to nwaeast.org for
all the latest news!
MAY 14, 2009 NWA EAST TO HONOR FANS IN NEW WING OF
CIRCLE OF RESPECT!
The NWA East has already opened its own Hall of
Fame to honor the top wrestlers and staff of NWA East's past. Now, in
our 15th year, we choose to honor the other people who helped build NWA
East to what it is today: the fans. A new tradition was started at In
Harm's Way 3: Fan Appreciation Night on May 9th 2009. NWA East's biggest
fans will be inducted into the NWA East "Section of Honor", our own wing
of the Circle of Respect dedicated to those who dedicated themselves to
NWA East.
The first two inductees are two of NWA East's biggest fans. Since the
early days of NWA East, these two men sat across the aisleway of the old
Wrestleplex in Eastland Mall. The late Ray Mendez and NWA East's biggest
fan known only as "Champ" will be the first two men inducted into the
Section of Honor!
Mendez saw a night at the matches as a chance to bring his family
together. You could see the Mendez clan, from Ray to Peaches and
everybody in between, in the crowd every other weekend at the
Wrestleplex and beyond. We lost Ray in 2004, and in 2005 and 2006, NWA
East hosted a tournament in his name. In 2009, the format was switched
up, and NWA East held a Fan Appreciation Night in Mendez' honor, where
the fans were able to pick and choose their own dream matches. Ray's
memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of his friends,
family, NWA East family, and the Section of Honor.
NWA East might have no bigger fan than Champ. You may see him every NWA
East live event, snapping photos of his favorite wrestlers (and girls).
He is a dedicated fan, not only to NWA East, but wrestling in general.
Champ will not hesitate to speak his mind to those who feel have wronged
himself and the other NWA East faithful in the crowd. He even holds a
pinfall victory over NWA East manager Benjamin C. Steele! But, he'll
always have a kind word for his friends in the locker room and on the
staff. It's never a dull moment with Champ in the building, and we'll
always remember our buddy as he takes his place in the Section of Honor!
MAY 7, 2009 CIRCLE OF RESPECT BREAKING
TRADITION WITH 2 NEW INDUCTEES!
NWA-East continues it's straying away from it's
Anniversary-Show-only Circle Of Respect inductions. With this being
the 15th Year Anniversary for the promotion, the NWA-East is looking
to pay the respect deserved of the people who made this promotion
one of the longest running independent promotions in the country
today.
As a result, the Ray Mendez Fan Appreciation Night will see the
induction of one of Ray's favorite NWA East stars, former NWA East
Tag Team Champion and former Guinness World Record-Holder JB
Destiny! At one time, JB was considered one of the top cruiserweight
wrestlers in the Pittsburgh area, and even wrestled at Monday Night
Raw during the "boom period" of the WWF. Destiny had his hand in one
of the biggest feuds in NWA East history as he teamed with Big Poppa
Gator and Boomer Payne to form 987 against Samu, Mad Mike, & Quinn
Magnum's team, the Rage. That feud brought 500 fans to the
Wrestleplex at Eastland Mall, and set the standard for NWA East
action! Despite his scarcity in NWA East in recent years, JB remains
one of the most popular stars in the company's history. Inducting JB
that night will be his brother and former tag team partner in The
Dead Ringers, making his return to NWA East after a long absence, CK
Fortune!
The next Circle Of Respect induction will take place at the 2nd
Annual Sean Evans Tournament Benefit Show, as NWA East legend Mad
Mike will be inducted, at long last! More inductions will then be
held at the 15th Anniversary Show this September.
